Pretty sure you guys already made enough noise to warrant a wandering monster check.
Well yes, exactly. So why are we going to throw most of the party down the pit leaving a few low level PCs up top to get slaughtered by werewolves?
We know what is in the pit, we can come back to it once we control the abbey.

If I might add,
Josiane currently has no idea about this strange 'gift' she's just employed (having literally only just realised she can do it!

) In particular, she hasn't a clue how long it's going to last, she's already wounded starting from a low hit point roll, she isn't equipped to get into a fight with these beasties and in order to keep the shadows at bay she's going to have to be the last one out of the pit!
Can we go now, please?

A most entertaining strategy session--it's great to see what the players are thinking now and then

To be fair the players have grabbed a few choice items along the way, but have certainly lost or left behind more.

That's about right; see
shadows.

I get to dice for the wandering monsters, sure, but I'm waiting to see what will happen next just like you

Well, not to meta-game even more... but I had assumed Ways had already checked for wandering monsters a few turns ago when you guys made that racket opening up the pit trap. If he hasn't yet checked, then it doesn't make sense to send more folks down into the pit.
Ways, can you clarify something for me? Do we know for sure that Hero-level characters wielding a normal weapon can hit monsters immune to normal weapons? I'm guessing so, since Dieter was slaying shadows with his normal sword, but I wanted to be sure.
If we do decide to leave, could someone please grab the Marrowstone first? It's more important than mere "treasure". Dorgan feels like it's his duty as a dwarf to return it to the mountain from which it was stolen, eventually.

Not to mention there are a few things people have picked up and then never used, either because they forgot to note it on their inventory sheet or because they forgot they had it in inventory. I haven't specifically gone through everyone's character sheets in some weird fit of OCD, making sure everyone has everything listed, but... Maybe not a bad idea to a) be sure and update your character sheet any time they get something new in their hands and b) give your character sheet a good once-over every time you're in a new situation (start of combat, facing a new puzzle (or an old puzzle, even), enter a new room, etc. For instance, we have a bowl that can heal if you drink holy water from it. Surely there is maybe someplace where we can find water that is either already holy or easily made that way (the Reliquary?). We have a staff (that looks like a bit of driftwood) that might be useful for fighting undead or healing party members. Are those in inventory (please tell me The Gustave doesn't have that bowl!)?
Too bad Dorgan can't use the marrowstone to try and locate shiny plate armour with crumbs on it. That would solve one of our problems, to be sure!

How about this... Wen can slide down the rope cast detect magic and make sure we are not leaving anything behind, grab the marrow stone and then we can get going. Faster then fighting the things and less dangerous.

Sounds like a reasonable compromise.

Dieter got a silvered sword from the Elves. So we still don't know.

Ah, wait. Never mind. Torben is the one carrying that now, isn't he? He took possession of it at the Elven village, I believe...
Not that I don't think we'll get The Gustave back, of course!

Yes, Torben is carrying the bowl/cup of healing.
