Self-sacrifice always works out in the end...

right?
OOC: I hate to be a pessimist, but to quote a famous economist, "In the long run we are all dead.", but let's hope for the best. If you guys would break out of the illusion, Olaf and Highbough would be available to come charging in like the cavalry to help, but right now we don't know where you are and you don't know where we are. Heck! We're probably seeing the giant Guntrum and not recognizing him right now.

The West Chamber
(Torban, Rufus, Gustave, Ulric, Guntram and Armando)

Up High...
Giant Guntram turns toward the abbey proper and launches himself at the thick, 8ft high stone wall which stands in the way causing an almighty tumult as the wall first buckles, then (with a bit of shoving) tumbles under his enormous strength.

Down Below...
Ulric (and the others) take evasive action as an ear-splitting ruckus is followed by and an avalanche of dust and broken debris. They can see nothing, hear nothing but noise, and are choking on the dust.

By the time it clears enough to get a lungful of breath, Giant Guntram has crashed through the wall, leaving a gaping opening into the internal courtyard, across which stands a blackened and blasted abbey!

Giant Guntram is already striding across the space toward a great double door...

The Blighted Passage
(Josiane, Desmond/Mondes, Dorgan, Dieter and Wen)

{Initiative is rolled 1d6; Dieter=1+1, Dorgan=2, Desmond/Mondes=last, Wolfmen=1, Priests=5. The priests escape. Dorgan withdraws. Dieter attacks 1d20=9,2,misses. Wolfmen attack 1d20=10,3,1,16, one hit for 1d6=5 damage. Desmond steps up.}

Dorgan makes a fighting retreat, getting clear of the melee as Dieter shoulders a storm of blows for 5 hit points of hurt. Desmond/Mondes hurriedly slides into position next to Ogre Slayer, taking up the slack, as the two black priests withdraw into shadow beyond the runic door.

Josiane can see the weary state Dorgan is in, and immediately goes for the hip flask in his pack.

Wen, meanwhile scans the dark with his red-laser gaze, in case any wolves should return... he senses, more than hears, a disturbingly deep rumble. As if the earth itself were splitting...

{Dorgan has 4/19 hit points. Dieter has 7/18 hit points. Desmond/Mondes has 15/15 hit points.}

As soon as Josiane hands him his flask of Dwarfish embalming fluid, Dorgan will encourage her to give Dieter a break.

"I'm fine, Miss. See if'n Dieter needs you ta step inta the breach."

Then he'll take a swig.

Torben

Torben looks askew at Gustave and readies his shield. "Wolves?(/b) he yells rhetorically, and turns his attention to the beasts through the dust and debris.

"Time to face the 'Wolfslayer', boys..." Desmond growls loudly as he enters the foray, swinging his sword and blocking with his shield.

Mondes takes a moment to roll his eyes before setting them to task, looking for openings in the wolfmens' attacks.

Once they start into the action, Desmond and Mondes both breathe deeply, hoping to keep up a constant air supply to avoid battle fatigue.

Wen would alert the others verbally. "Ware! Something else is going on out there I can feel it in the earth." Once Dorgan is tended to, Wen would move to his side and return the Marrowstone. "Your talisman my friend. Catch your breath and gather yourself, I fear we may have to move quickly"

Josiane steps up behind Dieter and draws her sword.

"Step back a moment, Master Ogre-Slayer; your wounds need tending and Dorgan has the means. I will hold the line in your stead."

She will fight defensively, conscious that her blade will not harm the enemy. (Unless she's allowed to wield Mad's Cold Iron Axe? If so she asks to borrow it before she steps ino the fray, whereupon she will do her best to bury it in the skull of the closest wolf-demon).

"Ha haaaa!" cries Gustave as his pushing and shoving finally pays off and Giant Guntrum begins to list forward and then bursts through the very wall!

Buoyed by his own prowess, he leaps through the breach, ignoring the billowing clouds of dust and grit, draws again his blade, and follows his engorged companion into the charred ruins beyond.
