Josiane sheathes her sword and takes off her pack. Then unbuckles it and then pulls forth a bundle wrapped in paper; her rations. Opening this she sees the usual loaf of hard, dry seed bread, a small wheel of hard cheese, several handfuls of dried fruits, some nuts, and some strips of dried fish and dried meat. Perhaps the latter might be of interest to a canine? Although it is very salted.

Meanwhile, the dogs continue to bay, and the voice mutters "I'm coming, I'm coming.." as the clomping steps get nearer.

Now Dorgan is positioned at the tent flap, and signals Percy and Mads to hang back.

They nod their understanding... Percy checks that his crossbow is loaded and ready as the pair back off some.

It can be but a scant moment before whomever it is arrives.

The dogs are barking (there must be two of them).

What now?

Dorgan steps into the 20 yard wide pavilion just as a fat old Goblin dressed in scruffy, well-to-do striped breeches and waistcoat comes up a central stair from below with a lantern.

The canny creature is not surprised -- he must have spied Dorgan's shadow moving on the outside of the tent, or else paid heed to the dogs' barking.

He puts his hand to a metal peg which binds a metal collar to the central pole of the pavilion. If he were to pull it, it would free the chain that holds the huge two-headed guard dog that is snarling and barking viciously as it strains against the chain to attack Dorgon.

"Well, well, what 'av we 'ere?" says the Goblin in common, eye narrowing suspiciously. He pulls the pin half way out -- Goblins and Dwarfs never did get along too well.

Josinane enters the tent behind Dorgan.

"Rolf! Grrr! Wulf! Rulf! Grrrr!" continues the two-headed mastiff furiously.

"Were ya about to take yer wife fer a walk, Gobbo? Sorry ta interrupt but you and I got bizness ta discuss."

Dorgan points his axe at the goblin but doesn't approach any further... yet.

"Ye have to answer for the ghoul you keep in the back. Well... kept in the back, that is." The dwarf laughs mirthlessly.

Josiane takes in the two-headed hound, blinks a couple of times, forces down her fear and speaks to it reassuringly in the softest, most calming of tones.

"Oh, you poor thing! To be kept cruelly tethered thus!"

You get the impression that she really means it...

"Gently now; we mean you no harm and much good. Here - may this be welcome to you."

She smiles gently and throws a strip of dried meat to each head in turn.

"Meh wife?" blinks the Snork for half a moment, then mutters something in the Dogeral tongue of which Dorgan only catches Dwarf as he pulls the pin free.

About the same moment Josiane tosses the pieces of dried meat... they look terribly small all of a sudden... or is that two-headed dog terribly large?

No matter, it all happens.

(Josiane's charisma roll 1d6=5)

The freed dog bounds instantly forward and snaps the dried meat out of the air, as the Snork turns to hurry back down the stair.

The dog is in mid flight, the Goblin in mid turn...

What do you do?

"Take the goblin alive," Josiane says to Dorgan, never taking her gaze from the hound; "We need him to talk."

Still smiling and speaking soothingly, she throws some more meat to the huge beast; "Oh, good dog! Who's a clever dog then..?"

The kindly smile on her face is growing. She's always wanted a pet... ( )
