Mondes grumbles, "Ah, we ain't never gonna get that big door open wit'out the bleedin' key."
Desmond begins wracking his brain to see if he remembered seeing any keys in the nest of the floating purple creature they dispatched. All he can think of is the charm and the staff with the Enigma symbols on them.
"Dorgan, can you tell at all what shape the key might be? Maybe one of those Enigma symbols might work? If not, then at least we might have some idea what we're lookin' for."

By looking, can Dorgan tell anything about the shape of the key that will fit in this keyhole?

Wen would happily pass the walking stick down the line to be checked against the lock.

Wen passes the walking staff to Dorgan, who's scratching his chin considering what kind of key might fit into the key hole... it'd have to be about a quarter inch thick, 2in high, and maybe 4 or 5 inches long. Of a sudden, the staff is put in his thick, calloused hands, and his eyes come to rest upon the metal Enigma of Thuul atop it... that foolish lookin' thing might just fit...

"I think I know a thing or two about locks. Let me look!" says Rufus.
Rufus will see if he can carefully pick the lock open with his handy tools, checking for traps first.

Dorgan will try the Enigma in the lock first and, if it doesn't work, will yield the space to Rufus.

The half-sphere and aperture are positioned a bit high on the door for Dorgan, but he has no problem lifting the staff to push the Enigma into the key hole... and to his mild surprise it slides in perfectly and give a comfortable shnick -- almost as if it were made for it. With the Enigma snugly in the lock, Dorgan gives it a surprisingly easy twist, and the whole semi-sphere rotate of its own violation and is simultaneously sinks back into the door sufficiently to free the Enigma. Then, with a distant tremor, the massive iron door rises up with an audible grinding of gears in the walls, until it is fully raised over a Man's head height where it halts with reverberating clang.
Then silence.
Beyond is a dark, but evidently large chamber. The floor appears to be clean, neatly paved flagstone. The sound of trickling water can be heard within...

Desmond is absolutely giddy that he figured it out. He tries to hide his smile, but cannot control the quiet squeak of delight as the door slides open.
"Not bad, noggin..." is about the best Mondes can offer.
Desmond starts to step forward into the room, but first pauses to see if any of the flagstones appears out of place (as in trapped). If not, then he will continue...

Wen would hear the excitement as the door slides open and call out. "Carefully, remember the stair trap! Whatever is in there is important.
