Torben

Torben's mood sours more, if possible, as the goblin riders come into sight; he growls back in response. He will ready his spear against a charge from the warg riders if they move to close the distance.

Remembering Ulric's spells, and not wanting to get in the way of them, Dorgan will wait for the goblins to come to him. He holds the line, shield and axe at the ready.

Ulric is hungry, tired, and cranky. At the sight of the goblin riders the magic user almost growls.

"I could sweep those vermin from that ridge with a word," he says to the others, "but listen...it sounds like there are more just beyond. We want to be sure to get all of them so they don't ride off and alert their camp. A live prisoner to question would also be useful. I could make one talk like the sister back at the abbey."

Ulric will hold for the moment and wait to see if more riders move up to the ridge. He readies the Comburent Phlogiston in his mind, eager to destroy the goblins that have kept him from his house and bed.

Desmond says, "Rufus, stick with us. Put your back to ours. Just so everyone else knows, we're swinging at anything that sounds like it is near and doesn't announce itself as being friendly... So just stay out of our way."

| FYI --
Melee range is 1" (10 yards in the wilderness), so either party would have to close in order to make contact.

The PCs are in a bedraggled column stretched out over 30 yards or so (column being the most efficient means for marching).
Let us assume the marching order is this :

Dieter
__Torben
Josiane
__Dorgan (sore feet)
Ulric
__Highbough
Wen
__Armando
Gustave (assisting Desmond)
__Desmond (blind)
Guntram (NPC mode, assisting Rufus)
__Rufus (NPC mode, blind)

The ridge is in front of and approximately perpendicular to this column.

Olaf is too far off to know anything is amiss. |

ooc: Gustave can call for Wen to care for Desmond as needed. Let's face it Wen is just a weak utility mage at this point. Melee is not advised. ;0 He threw his best spell given the situation hoping to line up the bowling pins for Ulric.

Highbough notes Ulric's preparations and nods silent approval. He makes sure to stay out of the way of any pyrotechnics.

While he is waiting, the Elf makes note if the warg riders are clad in metal or leather armor (or inded, if the wargs themselves have metal barding).

As soon as Josiane draws her sword, Dieter draws his as well. He says nothing, but smiles slightly.

Also, he rubs the tip of his thumb against the ring on his finger, mentally preparing the command word.
