Losing the element of surprise was unfortunate. But that's all history now.

Hey, I hadn't even thought of that! If someone had brought along a decent-sized mirror, well, that could get really interesting :D Laser beams unexpectedly flying everywhere; superb! Precisely what would have happened if this were an action/adventure movie.

It might be in our best interests to kill the werewolves and then retreat back over the wall to the orchard?

Then have Josiane cast her spells, then back up and over, fighters first?

I think we can take the tar beast but not while half the party is distracted by the werewolves. We need to close them down quickly.

I might suggest no one gets off the wall to engage the tar beast until we finish the fight with the werewolves.

You'll have no cover (aside from the bell tower) from its baleful eye while you're on the wall.

This is a relevant piece of history within these events.

Ok, plan B. If we close the tar portal, that should kill the tar beast without having to engage in melee.

Which one a' you magic types knows how to close that portal?

As Olaf said, "We're sitting ducks on this wall!"

Unfortunately, I think we're crispy critters or dog meat either way! Yes, I'm feeling pessimistic today. <sigh>

Danhem: all "area effect" spells are indiscriminate to a greater or lesser degree. Web allows you some control in that you could nominate a target to be caught in the "center" of the web (and will have no saving throw). If it's a pair of creatures in melee, then they will both be so caught. Everyone else within the area of effect will be at the "edge" (and thus allowed a saving throw versus breath weapon to avoid getting caught at all).

Also Danhem: are you sure that Ulric (with what, 4 hit points?) takes no defensive action whatsoever against the very real possibility that the Tar Monster will respond in kind to the magic missile blow that he just now dealt it? Tit for Tat seems very probable.

FYI -- I'll try to resolve the this turn in my lunch break today.

Okay, the show must go on!

Alas that I have no orders for Torben, Beringar, or Desmond/Mondes this turn, and that Olaf and Dieter will wave their swords harmlessly at an opponent that leaped well out of reach last turn, and that Gustave will climb down into the choking fumes, and that Ulric won't seek the cover offered by the bell tower, and that Beringar will face a third turn against a werewolf.

I'll assume Desmond continues to slug it out against the same opponent, one on one.
I'll assume that Beringar will continue to fight defensively, since his life likely depends on it!

danhem wrote:Ulric moves closer to Dorgan as Gustave climbs down to the courtyard. If he can, Ulric will cast Web upon the two werewolves engaged with Dorgan and Beringer. He will do his best to entangle only the wolfmen and not his comrades. If this is not possible he will not cash the spell.
Because Ulric could not web only werewolves, I will assume he did not attempt to cast it. If he had attempted to cast it, and lost the initiative and been targetted for attack (as he was) his spell would have been ruined and wasted.

Yes, sorry, I didn't think it was really necessary to say, "Desmond continues to jab at the hairy beast with his silver dagger." I hate to sound repetitive.

I will try to come up with something next time, though, to indicate his actions.
