There isn't really anywhere to step back to; Olaf is on a 5ft wide catwalk, immediately behind him is a 10-15ft drop over the wall to the ground outside. He could, perhaps, throw himself backward and, holding onto the lip of the wall, swing around behind Dieter. It would all be very "swashbuckler", but it might work. Or he might fall
If Olaf is able to "switch" with Dieter, does he then intend to fire into melee and risk hitting a friend?

Nothing from flightcommander; I'll assume Armando hides and/or defends himself.

Thought he wanted to use the Acid?

True, he did want to do that last turn; but losing initiative meant he couldn't risk firing into melee.
He might, plausibly, want to fire at... whatever comes out of the chapel... but I'll let him decide on that.

Sorry about that — last few days have been hectic, and last night I do believe I passed out in a comfy chair. Armando was indeed planning to paint some 'thropes with the acid, but that opportunity was lost (because initiative — makes sense now). I have some general questions:
How steep is the roof and what is it made of?
How far is it, roughly, from the wall to the chapel breach?
Are there any knobs, crenelations, or other whats-its along the wall that a rope might quickly be tied to?

Ah, just in the nick of time! Was about to post the next turn's outcome...

The slope of the roof isn't too steep to stand on; perhaps a one in four gradient? Highbough, Desmond/Mondes, and their opponents are already fighting upon the roof tops. The roof is of old, lichen-covered, 1ft x 2ft clay tiles. Many are cracked or mis-placed.
Distance from Armando to chapel breach is approximately (bzzzzzt): 40 yards.
The wall is unevenly topped; it is made of irregularly hewn stone with large gapps filled with lime mortar. There's bound to be something to fix a rope to somewhere. But with Armando's agility, he could *easily* canter down the roof, then hang over the edge by his arms, and harmlessly drop the remaining 3ft or whatever. And do it all with cat-like speed and grace.

I apologize if this has already been made clear, but how far is the drop from the top of the wall to the inner courtyard, should Dorgan be so inclined as to attempt it?

From the edge of the roof it's somewhat less than 10ft. If one were to hang from the gutters by one's arms, it would be a reasonable drop.
Of course, dropping into the fog would restrict visibility...

The roving red beam snaps suddenly toward Wen and Ulric's position!
Ways, thanks for answering my questions.
Aren't Wen and Ulric at rather different points on the wall?
