Here are the rules on overbearing, which are quite eye-opening. Being swarmed by six orcs does not look fun!

Overbearing
Man-types can grapple an enemy bare-handed in order to overpower and capture him without killing him.

If the defender is armed, or is not a man-type, each attacker must make a successful attack roll before being able to contribute to the overbearing attempt. Each contributing attacker throws a six-sided die for each of his own hit die (although no more than six men can attempt to overbear a single man at a time).

The defender then throws one six-sided die for each of his hit dice and the totals are compared. If the attackers’ total is higher the defender will be hopelessly pinned. If the scores are equal the struggle is unresolved and can continue next turn. If the defender’s total is higher the attackers are thrown back 1" and unable to participate in the struggle next turn.

Aldbane points at the cage. "What's with the wyvern?" he asks the men.

"We think it is Ozminster's. We were hoping if we fed it, it might become friendly and we could use it to attack him. But we don't want to use it on our friends"

"I was saving my holding magic for the Mage...but I can use it on the charmed fighters if we don't want to harm them," Aldbane says.

| How about this plan? Aldbane can hold up to four humanoids - he can cast his hold person on the two charmed fighters and two of the orcs, then we can fight the rest of the orcs. We can leave the two charmed fighters held and unharmed until we deal with Ozminster and the charm is broken. At least, that is the theory  |

A halfling appears from thin air: "Hi! I'm Franklin. So you're saying Balbo, Drogo and me should concentrate missile fire on the wizard?"

OOC: I don't see any advantage to Franklin staying invisible for the fight. He's not a rogue and doesn't get sneak attacks. I think this is the best use for the hobbets since they have good accuracy with missile weapons. And I think trying to use the wyvern is too risky; could backfire!

Or if the wizard holds back (and only sends his minions) then the hobbets would aim for the orcs and avoid hurting the charmed humans. Hopefully we can thin the crowd before they close to grappling/overbearing range.

I'll give you guys one more days for any input/changes, then we will have the fighters accept your plan and we will proceed

The halflings will target whichever orcs are not held by Adlbane's spell. If I remember correctly, Balbo and Drogo favor bow & arrow while Franklin favors his sling.

What will be your new marching order, with these two fighters added?

To make life easy on ourselves, let's put them in the front because they "know their way around here more than we do." (Just my opinion).

You turn around to head south, just as the door to the west must have opened because three well-armed fighting men have come around the corner and are 10 feet away from you. "Kill them" snarls the leader

I'll wait a day for any adjustments to the plan, then post the resolution
