He addresses the old-timer with his most polite and respectful whisper. "Highbough the Cypher at your service, standing at the gates of your great Library as a moth drawn to flame."waysoftheearth wrote:Ulric and Highbough; The Traders' Concourse
"And you are?" asks a withered old concierge in stiff and formal collared shirt and waistcoat with a pair of tiny brass spectacles upon his hawk-nose, who glares unhappily at the new comers.
"That's about the way I see it too." Olaf nods, "A villa would be ideal, but it would also be the most costly. It would also make us very visible to everyone in the community...for better or worse."rleduc wrote:Guntrum speaks up: "A villa might have proper stables for pack animals as well as a kitchen and other living facilities. The great and good of Ket must somehow manage in the face of the public eye. A proper villa would have a wall and be built to post a guard as well as does a warehouse. However, a townhouse is probably too open and unprotected.
"Right!" Olaf nods again, "So, rooms here while we look?"It surely will take more than an afternoon to find a place suitable, so I think we'll need rooms here or elsewhere for a spell."
"The library, is it, Mister Highbough?" repeats the concierge, looking down his nose at the spear most dubiously. "Well, as you are not patron you'll have to fill in this here form, and pay a silver shilling per day. The library is only open to the public during the hours before and after noon."mushgnome wrote: "Highbough the Cypher at your service, standing at the gates of your great Library as a moth drawn to flame."
He concentrates for a moment and forms the thoughts: I know you can hear me, and would humbly request a few words in private.
He bows courteously and waits.
Dorgan has never understood the inclination of Men to bury their dead in such shallow graves; the Dwarfs honour their own dead in the deepest vaults, or else send them to the Great Furnace whereto their remains can never be distrubed.sulldawga wrote:The dwarf will walk around the cemetery slowly. He's looking for evidence of freshly buried graves... and older graves disturbed and/or bodies exhumed.
While the others are about their business in town, Olaf and Guntram make arrangements for tonight's accommodation with Albert. He has six room available, though four of them are just bedsits, intended to accommodate one. Albert agrees to set extra straw mattresses, pillows and blanks upon the floor so that two might sleep comfortably in each of the bedsits. The two proper rooms each have two beds, and could accommodate three persons with an additional mattress upon the floor.eris wrote:If everyone agrees, Olaf will talk to Albert about renting rooms for everyone in the party.
The dwarf looks up, trying to locate Josiane. He won't call out but will wave to her if he can make eye contact.waysoftheearth wrote:Josiane and Dorgan; The Cemetery
As to fresh diggings... (1d6) he has almost searched every meandering path before he comes across a plot that looks to have been freshly dug. And wait, there are a few of them... two, three, four. Half a dozen graves, all around a particularly ancient crypt down the back of the cemetery appear to have been exhumed only recently.
"I think that adds up to 22 silver pieces, does it not?" Olaf asks the innkeeper counting out silver pieces in his hand, "I'll pay you the full sum now for one night."waysoftheearth wrote:The Plough and Furrow

The four bedsits will each cost 2sp per night (plus 1sp with the extra mattress). The two rooms will each cost 4sp per night (plus 1sp with the extra mattress).
"Moi oh moi, we will be busy tonight!" flusters Albert, taken the handful of coin from Olaf, and then hurrying about all the chores he will have to get done in order to have the rooms ready for his new patrons.eris wrote: "I think that adds up to 22 silver pieces, does it not?"
