Dorgan backs down not one inch... at least not yet. He fights on.

I think Dieter is fighting wolfmen, not wolves.

I don't think the wolfmen are retreating...

OOC: Shows what happens when I read this before my coffee!

Dieter presses the attack with all the fury he can muster.

Ulric falls back slightly from Giant Guntram as he pulls down the roof. Ulric takes a moment to shine his lantern further down the passage past the opening to the large chamber to see if it ends or continues; or if there are more wolves coming.

OOC: Looking down the long passage to the left on the map.

The West Chamber
(Torban, Rufus, Gustave, Ulric, Guntram and Armando)

Giant Guntram flings a massive timber beam down the passage way with an almighty clatter {1d20=3} but it smashes great dings in the walls and scatters the wolves rather than hitting them directly.

Meanwhile, Rufus and Armando turn their inquisitive eyes toward the boarded up chamber, while Ulric keeps a watch over the passage that continues further into to the dark to a door which he can dimly see.

The boarded up windows, and a door (opposite the entry way) could probably be freed up relatively easily with a crowbar or similarly useful tool. The chamber itself is sparse and mostly bare. There is a low brick wall, about 1ft high, that forms a square in the central part of the room, and this appears to retain a volume of dry, stony earth. In the center of earth is a man-sized stake, about which are heaped large, gnawed bones.

The Blighted Passage
(Josiane, Desmond/Mondes, Dorgan, Dieter and Wen)

The panicked wolves scamper off howling in fear as Desmond/Mondes continues to blast the shrill whistle, fire spreading from one to another in the close quarters, with Wen's candle flames zipping between them. It's mayhem!

Wen is fully occupied driving the wolves off with his candles (and could hardly see the priests through the melee anyway), and Desmond/Mondes can't see a thing beyond the snarl of melee with the wolfmen.

{Speaking of which... initiative is diced 1d6; Dieter=2+1, Dorgan=1, Wolfmen=4, Priests=3. The wolfmen attack 1d20=19,5,7,6, Dieter is hit for 1d6=3 hit points. Dieter attacks 1d20=15,10, hits once for 1d6=2 hit points. The priests each cast spells. Dorgan attacks 1d20=20,4, one hit for 1d6=3 damage.}

The combat with the wolfman clatters on, each side giving and taking hurts in equal measure, but no ground is given. Dieter's opponent is down to little more than his feral zeal, while Dorgan's is bloodied but still fit. There are two more wolfmen behind them champing at the bit to get into it, while the two black priests work their unknowable sorceries in the background.

{Dieter has 13 of 18 hit points left.}

The Lobby
(Envongr is here)

Envongr sees yet more wolves pouring into the lobby from the two passages, accompanied by a thunderous clatter, and deems it time to run!

{Initiative is rolled, 1d6; Envongr=3, wolves=2. Envongr flees, but wolves outpace him. 1-4 wolves attack, 1d4=4. 1d20=7,13,19,17, two hits for 2d6=1+3 4 hit points.}

Envongr kicks a wolf aside and clears a swathe with a swing of his axe, then bolts through the door! At first it seems he's home free, but despite his quick legs, Envongr can't outrun wolves -- not even down slope -- and before he knows it the baying, growling pack is snapping at his heels. Then he's tripped, sprawling in the gravel, and countless ferocious wolves are tearing him up!

Mercifully, Envongr swiftly loses consciousness...

{Envongr has 0 of 11 hit point left, and is helpless!}

Desmond continues to blow into his silver whistle without actually taking a breath himself.

As he does so, he contemplates the complexities that got him thus far... Remembering to snag his eldest brother's prize dog whistle before he left, growing a second head after eating a fruit from the upside down dungeon tree, and stumbling into an old abbey full of wolves and werewolves...

Oh, the tales he'll be telling... If he survives, that is.
