"Who's coming with me ta check out the base camp?"
"I'm with you,"
Dieter says. "As long as we all go, or we leave a strong enough party here. I'm tired of splitting up and being whittled down piecemeal."

ooc: don;t worry I'm not really going to light a fire at this point, just getting the details ready. It sounds like we are ready to go back inside. No sign of Graven or the Mule so no point hanging around outside, lets go kick in some doors and loot this place ;p

Dorgan sighs, long and loud.
"If Graven ain't dead, he's long gone from here. If'n, by some miracle, he stuck around ta see if we lived, he'll come find us. Let's get back ta scavenging."
When they get back to the main gate, Dorgan will relate what they found at base camp.
"Anyone good at huntin'? We ain't got no rations no more."

Desmond shrugs, and asks with a remarkably straight face, "Maybe the previous inhabitants ate something besides human flesh? We can keep an eye out for food stores in the lower level."
"If not," he adds, "and if we can find a stream or pond or lake, I have my fishing lines with me..."
OOC: That's right, Desmond doesn't have two heads for nuthin'! He's planned ahead this time!

"Garven and the mule are gone?" Ulric says in disgust. "More silver wasted."
"How much food do we have in our packs?" Ulric then asks. "What supplies did Evongr have? I see them scattered about. Look, there is his pack. Did he have any food."
OOC: Did we leave all of our food in camp on the mule or did we take some with us? I can't recall. I would think that Ulric would have carried at least a couple days worth on him. I found the post detailing what supplies we purchased in Ket, including 14 week of trail rations, totaling 250 sp.

OOC: My character sheet indicates a week of rations in my pack. I guess it depends on how WOTE looks at it. Either that was in my original inventory and he will say it is long gone or we can assume Desmond starts out every adventure with a week of rations in his pack, keeping it topped off whenever they're back at the home back. Obviously, I vote the latter. But, like I said, if not, then at least he does have fishing line and hooks.

Josiane casts around their former campsite for any sign of where Garven and her favourite mule might have gone. Any sign of tracks or any other indication as to their fate?

I'll assume that the bulk supplies were left behind at the campsite.
Everybody would have carried enough with them for a day trip to the abbey; some more, some less. Let's call it two days rations each remaining, if you're frugal.

ooc: Any source of dead wood besides the old apple tree? Any likely areas that could be dug with the pick? Wen would not hold up the group but as long as we area standing around he'd try to figure out what could be done later on the way out.
The ground is hard and stony in these hills. A decent burial would have to be conducted further down hill, or in a bit of a valley between two ridges where sufficient soil has accumulated.
There are trees dotted around, though they are mostly wiry specimens. The apple orchard is a good option for wood; as is the demolished section of the abbey; there's plenty of timber lying about there.
