Now.

You've been sitting up the back of the Plough and Furrow common room quietly taking your simple repast. However, as things have transpired the commons have become first full, and then positively rowdy! A great group of the unclean have inconveniently chosen this exact time and place to have one of their noisome gatherings.

Interestingly, this lot appear to have brought a small fortune in coin along with them...

OCC: Ways, how much do Wolfrick's alchemical formulas cost to create?

The company gets to recalling their adventures, and telling tall tales as they enjoy their food and drinks.

And what an adventure!

In little more than a week away from Ket so much has happened (and a year of real time has passed). Olaf narrowly escaped a suffocating death inside the swamp-shambler on the first night away. Then, upon first entering the catacombs beneath the Ogres' gate house, Flewellen was disastrously slain by friendly fire before the resident Ogres were met in deadly combat. Anwyn, Michele and Caine all came to grisly ends against the Ogre trio before Dieter Ogre Slayer made his name; putting the monsters to the sword most efficiently. Padrig then disturbed a noisome ooze during the night, and for his trouble it dissolved his armour (and Thorgrim's beard).

Alas, as the company departed the dunjon they met an arrow storm as Deggerhund the Ogre Boss and a band of Saxxon's knaves sought to relieve the company of their hard won loot. Many were wounded by missiles, poor Padrig slain, and Gustave incapacitated. The tide of battle turned when Nidhogg and Wibert turned coat and joined with the company against their fellows! Deggerhund the Ogre was ultimately slain by his former captive -- Pelenwin the Brave.

But that was not all. Saxxon sent more Men after Deggerhund's silver. There was parley, and outflanking and then missiles flew and axe and sword hewed mightily, and Sigmund and Wulfric were slain after bitter fighting. But meanwhile, a pair of Owlbears (whose lair had been bypassed) tracked the company and attacked poor Thorgrim, who had been left to defend the treasure-cart and mule alone. Alas brave Thorgrim was slain before the rescue party arrived. And when the fighting was going ill, Desmond appeared and frightened off the Owlbears with his dog whislte!

The next day the company entered Saxxon's gatehouse in pursuit of Gustave and Nidhogg who had earlier met an old friend in Copernicus, and Nidhogg found himself locked up with the prisoner Koch. While they made good their escape, the rest of the company found a troop of hobgoblins had come a knocking and demanding a tribute. Diplomacy gave way to sorcery, and then all out fighting. The hobgoblin soldiery were beaten off, but soon returned in larger numbers with wolf riders and a fearsome Giant!

The company were forced to flee across the rickety ravine bridge, and alas! Andaros fell to his death, taken a sack of coin with him to the ravine floor. The company was then separated; Olaf and Victor entered the Ogres' Keep again from the ravine floor, while the rest entered from the upper works. Victor was paralysed by a loathsome Carrion Crawler, forcing Olaf to abandon his loot and much of his gear to carry his fellow.

Upstairs Dieter triggered a trap which conjured fifteen fiery fiends to give battle exploding in fireballs when vanquished! Dieter, Pelenwin, Desmond and Gustave were all incapacitated in the fighting, and alas, Mads was slain. Meanwhile, Olaf (hauling Victor) was surprised by a hungry Troglodyte! Only by a miracle saving throw did Victor break the paralysis just in time to skull the monster from behind before it gutted Olaf.

The main company came upon a strange chamber in the depths where an upside down tree grew, bearing irresistible fruit. Many ate and fell into a slumber, but Desmond grew a second head! Mondes, his contrary anti-self has been pestering him ever since. At last the upstairs company located a slide shaft that dumped them in the vicinity of Olaf and Victor and the company formed ranks again; but not before some unknown enemy ambushed them from the rear and dragged poor Boris off into the dark, never to be seen again!

Finally, marching back from the gate-houses to Ket on empty stomachs, the company met with and beat off a Warg-riders patrol. Two thirds of them fled the scene when the nasty stuff started.

After a full day marching on empty stomachs they at last came upon a farmstead, where Desmond/Mondes hid in the barn while the others met Guntram the Thick, and filled their bellies on good wholesome farm cooking before the final march back to Ket.

OOC: Definitely don't divide the loot up in the main eating area; borrowing use of the wine cellar or a larger dormitory-style room sounds good.

How about Full Share to the PCs (not newcomer PCs; sorry) and half share to the NPCs (that were with the older PC group)?

Divide it out into 20 equal shares of 120 silver each, with 11 copper left over, and the PCs get 240 silver while the NPCs get 120 silver.

How does that sound to everyone?

WOTE, this does not include all of the other items you listed, correct? So there is still other stuff that could be sold or dispersed amongst the group?

All of that, from moving to the cellar or a separate private room, to the division of the treasure sounds good to Olaf, and me, too.

Oh, btw! That 11 copper left over, would that be enough to pay Albert for use of a dormitory (or his cellar) for the night? If it is, then let's do it!

I know the necklace is probably worth a pretty penny, so we should look into selling it tomorrow...we made some contacts with merchants last time we were here. There are also some magical type things...a spell book or magical inscriptions, something like that wasn't there? The magic-user types will want to divide up that sort of loot. As far as I can tell, we didn't recover any magic armor or weapons for the fighters, right?

O.O.C: Josiane has no desire to lay claim to anything she hasn't earned. (The Knight-Marshal's implication that she was attempting to live off the charity of the Order still rankles her...) You guys go spend your loot! The Gods know you worked hard enough to get it!

Dorgan will lean over to Josiane and whisper to her.

"Mebbe it's better ta stay here? Safety in numbers? These look like a veteran crew. We could go back to get the holy water and return before nightfall..."
"The blessing of the water will take some hours, so Brother Denim said," Josiane whispers back; "I doubt the task will be completed before morning. As to where to stay..."

This is a matter that is increasingly troubling her. While the holy ground of the temple will provide some measure of protection against the fiend she believes hunts them, the doors stand open at all hours. What is there to stop the enemy's mortal servants falling upon them there?

On the other hand, remain here and all that stands between them and their foe is the Enigma of Thuul about her neck and her faith. Will that be enough? And what of their new companions, not to mention the landlord, his staff and the humble folk who dine here? Does not her very presence endanger them all? Her thoughts return to the goblins watching them outside the Executioner's Axe. If they were followed here...

A thought strikes her. When an opportunity presents itself, she accosts Albert the landlord.

"Good sir, do your kitchen stores perchance contain any garlic? I would make purchase of some, if I may..."
