Padrig will step back and against the wall so Michele and Mads get a good shoot, throwing the torch at the creature and grabing his shield instead. With spear in hand ready to attack after the arrows finish flying.

Thorgrim backs up the front ranks. If one of them should fall, he will attempt to pull them to safety. If the beast should break through their ranks, he knows how to deal with that too.

Initiative is rolled (1d6; Mads=5+1, Flewellen=5, Michele=4, Padrig=4, The Foe=1)

Flewellen nimbly drags poor Caine clear of the melee as Padrig attempts to throw himself clear of any missile fire, but he cannot do so before Mads lets fly an arrow with deadly speed (1d20=13; odds (1d6; 1=Padrig, 2=Flewellen, 3=Michele, 4=Thorgrim, 5=Andaros, 6=Foe; =1) which alas strikes Padrig cruelly in the back for (1d6=4) 4 hit points of damage!

...and almost simultaneously Michele raises his heavy armament and yanks back on the cumbersome trigger causing a sharp twang as the weapon kicks back savagely and launches a bolt into the gloomy melee with frightening speed (1d20=19; odds (1d3; 1=Padrig, 2=Flewellen, 3=Foe; =2) only to woefully pierce Flewellen through his back (4dd=3,5,5,4) dealing a catastrophic 10 hit points of damage! The baleful bolt punches out the front of Flewellen's chest with a bloody gout, running him entirely through. He gasps a surprised splutter before collapsing.

But the heated combat does not pause -- Padrig ducks a wild swing and then lashes back at the rampant enemy with his fiery torch (1d20=18) smashing it over its wooly noggin with a blow that send showers of sparks flying and delivers (1dd=6) a grievous 6 hit points of damage!

But even this merely seems to enrage the howling monster beyond reason rather than cow it, for it attacks Padrig madly with flailing arms and abutting shoulders and snapping fangs (1d20=11) but the Elvish templar manages to fend these attacks skilfully away... for now.

Caine has 0 of 6 hit points (incapacitated).
Padrig has 1 of 5 hit points.
Woe be you all, Flewellen is undone!

Olaf is still too far back to do anything with all the bodies in front of him.

"All you non-fighters, fall back and let us forward!" he calls out, but only moves forward if he *can*.

Padrig will fall back and let the fighters through.

"I will not let anyone with arrows drawn stand behind me again", spits Padrig.
