Desmond asks, "If we're going to continue this way, shouldn't we first gather up the other guys? They're probably wondering what we're up to..."

When Dorgan sees Gustave pick up the torch and throw it further down the passageway, he immediately heads out to join the fighter and see what's he discovered.
But he only takes a couple of steps before he slows down, stops, and looks back at Josiane. He stands there for a moment, as if weighing his options, then turns back to the passage.
Hissing in a loud whisper, Dorgan tries to get Gustave's attention.
"Pssst. Psssttt! Whatta ya see down there?"

Josiane moves up to stand beside Dorgan, although she is careful to continue to watch the unexplored passage with the man-sized alcoves lining it.

While he is standing guard, Highbough looks up... how high is the antechamber ceiling? Are there any ledges/vents/decorations?

The Ante Chamber
(Highbough, Guntram, Josiane, Dorgan)
Josiane prepares to follow after Dieter and the others who took the right-hand passage, but pauses as Gustave and Dorgan are delayed down the left-hand passage.
Guntram takes up a new position to conduct his watch (see mud map, following), while Highbough casts his lantern light and gaze to the ceiling, above. It is roughly 15ft above, and of a pyramidal form, the apex being 20ft overhead. The rim of the ceiling is carved in bass-relief with gates, shields, and a hundred grim-faced soldiers.

The Left Passage
(Gustave, and now Dorgan)
Gustave lobs the torch toward the promising glimmer in the side tunnel with silky ease; it bumps awkwardly off the rocky earth of the wall, and reverse somersaults like a stricken acrobat, before tumbling further down the passage with its sputtering orange glow...
...where the glimmer of riches vanishes immediately before they are ever revealed; all Gustave spies in the dark is a flicker of movement receding further down the passage at haste. The flick of a black cloak, perhaps? Over the vaguest hint of man-like shoulders, perhaps?
Whatever it was, if it was anything, must have good eyes in the dark. And movement as quiet as any mouse.

The Second Vault
(Dieter in, Ulric just inside the door, Olaf next in the passage, then Desmond/Mondes, Wibert and Pelenwin)
It is cold.
Dieter (inside the second vault) signals an about face so that everyone should turn and head back the way they came...
What is that? An echo of a distant crash?
Pelenwin was last into the passage from the first vault, behind Wibert, so he now has the lead. When he turns about he finds himself looking into a cold, pitch darkness. The only light source is Ulric's lantern, now behind him rather than ahead of him.
As Pelenwin waits a moment for Ulric to retrace his steps and illuminate the way back, there comes another terrible sound. A great, slow, grinding tremor comes, as though massive slabs of stone nearby protest being moved.
"What's that, then?" mutters Mondes.
