Pelenwin leads on, his trusty companions close behind...
His boots crunch grit upon the flagstones as he advances cautiously, his pole-axe gripped firmly in both hands.
A score of paces further on and he spies a T intersection ahead, from where he can turn right or left. In fact, peering around the corners he discerns that there is a doorway some few paces down the left passage, while the right passage seems to lead on uninterrupted...

Ulric follows along after the others keeping to the middle of the group wondering how many miles of tunnels are below the gatehouse keep.
"We could be wandering for days," he mutters to himself.
As Pelenwin moves to examine the door, Ulric moves up to the intersection to see if the breeze is still coming from the right.

Pelenwin (with helm still covering his noggin) leans closer to the stout, iron bound timbers of the door and listens...

Alas, he hears naught beyond his own breathing and the shuffling feet and mutterings of his fellows.

Pelenwin heads back to his companions. "The breeze I felt wouldn't travel through a door, but don't look like anythings going to bit us in the back as we travel forth. Onward." Pelenwin continues through the uninterrupted path.

It has taken half an hour or so for the whole of the part to clamber down the series of ledges surrounding the dark shaft. Wibert's second last torch is half consumed, though Gustave's lantern is still mostly fuelled.

Pelenwin has made his choice, and leads the company to the right (away from the silent door). His fellows seem content to follow his lead.
The new way forward is another claustrophobic stone passage, perhaps 6ft wide. One Man abreast can go comfortably, but two would be shoulder to shoulder.
Not two dozen paces down this passage way, Pelenwin sights an open passage way branching off to his left. The way ahead continues into the dark, the passage veering into a slight curve away to the right before vanishing into the dark.
The faint breeze that he might have detected before seems absent now, but there is a faint tang detectable upon the air. It smells strangely like.... soap?

"Shall we keep to our present course?" Ulric asks. "We are less likely to get lost that way. Or more lost at any rate."
Ulric sniffs the air to try to determine the direction of the odor as well as it's true nature.
