"As usual you speak with wisdom, Elf", says Gustave, propped on one elbow in the grass.
"I fear we may have more troubles ahead before we can consider this battle won, and many of us must rest further ere we attempt that road", he adds shifting his weight with obvious pain.
"But we must not forget our new dwarf 'ally' is missing."
His eyes turn dark, "We should send scouts after him - either to lend him aid if he has remained true, or to scry what passes if he has gone back to the foe."

Having tended to Gustave as best as be could, Ulric turns his attention to the fallen brigands and begins to search their bodies for purses and other valuables. He decides one of their bows might be better than his sling and takes one as well as a quiver of arrows. Feeling the weight, he wonders if he'll need to lighten his load.

"We should return to Taines and the cart as soon as we finish looting this lot," Ulric says coldly. "Hopefully more brigands have not attacked him and stolen our treasure from under our noses. Then we can see about the keep."

Ulric looks over his bloodied comrades and wonders how much more punishment they could take.

Mads the Fair

Mads gingerly walks over to Sigmund's body and goes through the man's belongings.

Dieter 5 of 12
(OOC: Seems like I spend half my life at 5 of 12!)

Ulric can carry the short bow and quiver of arrows (just 8 missiles remain among the pair slain brigands) without suffering, but precious little more.

The bulk of his load comprises three precious tomes -- The Grimoire Lusus Naturae, The Abridged Tongues of the Underworld, and Flewellen's Journal Alchemica.

Alas, Taines has gone to meet his ancestors. It is Thorgrim who patiently guards the cart of loot won in the Ogres' gatehouse.

Mads sees much the same as Highbough, as the pair riffle over the battered bodies of the slain fighting-Men.
waysoftheearth wrote: Wulfirc carried a rather flimsy purse containing a handfull of copper and silver coins, a pair of wooden dice, and a small clay smoking pipe. Under his shirt the curious Elf locates a pungent sheaf of a strange tobacco. The Man's other possessions appear limited to his dented shield, helm, now pierced adn bloodied ringmail coat, and his heavy morning star.

Sigmund carries even less, not even a purse. All that can be gleaned of his worldly goods is his short bladed court sword -- it appears to be of a reliable rather than outstanding craft. Wibert has already picked up the Man's dagger and is eyeing off its curved edge in the pale afternoon light. The subtle glamour of the blade catches Highbough's eye and he half suspects that it might be the work of an Elvish-trained smith.

Wulfric's helm seems a fair fit for Dieter's noggin, and would serve righteously in place of his own split headgear.

Yes, 5 of 12 does seem to be Dieter's "comfort zone".

Now, as all this happenstance arises, an echo of a sound carries against the inclement wind to those members of the company positioned still near where Wulfric and Sigmund fell.

Those company members are Dieter, Olaf, Boris, Mads and Pelenwin.

These adventurers hear what might, perhaps, be a muffled shout that carries over the grassy ridges from the direction of Thorgrim and the cart...

While he may not be able to carry any more, Ulric still quickly but carefully searches through the bodies of the slain brigands for valuables, leaving them on the ground for the others to collect.

"A little help," he says to those nearby.

Andaros will take one of the brigand's bows, if there is another one available.

The morning-star can be wielded with one hand? If that's the case, and no one wants it, I'll take it.

Andaros will walk towards Fix. Once there, he will break the shaft of any arrow unceremoniously, and then arrange the body as if it was sleeping, with his weapon in his hand, and his shield behind his head, like a pillow.

The southerner then walks where the rest is.
