Wen would frown. "Well this is tight spot indeed. Do we know of other ways into the City? Are there by chance underground tunnels? At the very least we might be able to send a message to the sister's or sneak a few of us in to see them."
"When we left town, a hobbit followed us." says Olaf, "He came out of Ket by some way other than the gates."

"If he can come out, we could go in." Olaf says grimly

OOC: Don't remember who it was, but someone did...:)

"We need to try to save the Sisters if we can." Olaf says, "Not just for me, but to heal the blind we have among us. But a frontal assault won't work so it's going to take some thinking."

OOC: Olaf's problem is that he is stuck at Level 2 until he gets the Mother Superior to do the "Remove whatever" on him. He's got the XP to go up levels, but no way to use them...I don't think. An idea for an ally is the Knight we ran into earlier. This is his sort of war, so let's sic him on the Goblins. :)

"There are plenty o' tunnels and under that town," pipes up Rufus, "If io had my eyes about me, I could get one or two us under the walls easily; sneaky like... but blind as I am, someone else would have to be the eyes."

He shrugs nonchalantly, as though crawling thru catacombs blind wouldn't be a significant problem for him...

Dorgan agrees with Des.

"Back to the ruins and let the Miss figure out what we've got. Then we can figger out about finding some food and another way into Ket."

"Well said my good dwarf", concurs Gustave.

"There is no virtue to remaining here, and we cannot go ahead, so we must retreat to what little shelter we have available. With any luck, we might come across another mule...", he adds, shouldering his pack and making ready to march once again for the hills.

"I can only agree in the most ardent terms! Do note we are also in possession of an unexamined lockbox from the secret reliquary — which I suppose houses a grimoire or psalter of great value — not to mention the delicate Orb, which might — perhaps, in the hands of a just and righteous operator — be used to communicate, at a distance, with the Sisters.

"All of this is the most desperate conjecture, naturally, and in better times I would have traded these relics for a fine meal, a bottle of wine and a brace of strumpets without a second thought. So exposed, however, I feel the risk so much the greater. We must to the ruins!"

Torben

Torben stands there taking in all of the conversation. 'One thing we're assuming is that the Sisters are interned in Ket -- they might have evacuated or been taken away.' He strokes his beard. 'I say back to the ruins to regroup for now.'

OOC: ways, did Torben or anyone else see bodily or skeletal remains among the destruction?

Highbough is disappointed he will not have his bath just yet, and joins the rest of the party in returning to the ruins.

As the party makes it way back to the Ruins Wen wonder aloud to Ulric and Highbough. "Do you think that the Infinitesimal Summons could be used to convey messages? That is Ulric who knows the location of the sisters was able to focus his desire intensely on sending the summons to that location and return perhaps the en-spelled swarm could be used as to carry a written message and return with one? If food was not an issue we could test it out on a smaller scalar here in grasslands"

Dieter wasn't terribly thrilled with the way the goblins were taking over Ket in the first place. Now he's sad at the thought of that once fine town ground under their heel.

It would have been nice to find a soft bed and a hot meal, but in an occupation these are not certainties anyway.

"Maybe someone could sneak in," he muses, right at about the same time the rest of the party decides to return to the ruins. "Perhaps another time."

When the party gets back to the ruins, Dorgan will propose a plan.

"We need ta get food. I think some a' us, the quieter ones, should go out tonight and scout some a' the farms ta see if'n there's anything worth eatin' left over. The rest a' us should keep watch while the Miss looks at them relics and sees if'n they can help cure blindness.

If ya find any decent boots, bring 'em back, too. I ain't traipsin' all over the Hinterlands barefoot much longer."
