Her martial skills have come about because of her stepfather's training and she's often reluctant to employ them. She's absolutely not the "charge, screaming "Death to the Unbelievers"" type at all!

I'm honestly not trying to power game here, but I'd much rather lose the special abilities/multiple attacks and keep Josiane's spell-casting. It's more in keeping with the 'is she some saintly avatar or just some strange, deluded foundling child' that I first envisaged.

As things stand, it seems she's now a lot closer to an OD&D Paladin, and that's not really how I saw her- which was basically a gentle, healing Cleric who just happens to swing a mean sword, albeit reluctantly. All things considered, if it was a choice between Josiane being a Cleric or a Paladin, I'd choose the former.
The templars were ever a militant lot and the DD Templar tends to reflect that... so perhaps what is needed here is to leave Josiane's increasingly ill-fitting "Templar-hood" behind her, as an ill-fitting boot is cast from a growing foot, and have her "join" a more fitting class?

One option might be for her to switch to the "classic" DD cleric. Another option might be to introduce something new and bespoke.
The former option would be more straightforward of course, and the matter of Jehan's sword would be manageable, as you'll soon see when I post the revised house rules. The sword would be a non-class weapon for a cleric, but Josiane-as-cleric could still swing it (albeit reluctantly!).

Or otherwise we can devise something else that you're more happy with between us. What do you think?

Men call me the Highbough, the goblin-scum have dubbed me Morgulug a'Hezmog, and even their wargs fear my name: generations have been whelped on bloody tales of the Old Cat. My traveling companion is young Lleuad-Wen the Pale, lover of starlight. These assembled insignificants are the best representatives of their kind I was able to find on short notice. They have come all the way from Ket to seek the council of the Wood Elves and plead for your help to win back their city. I am sure each of them will want to present proper introduction to the Council to begin these proceedings. Beware! The Grey Elf brings no gift of song, magic, nor beauty to honor our hostess the Lady of the Wood; only tidings of bloodshed, starvation, and war!"
LOL! That's awesome :D
Thanks! A lot of it came out of PM's you sent me.

Highbough's intention was that the others should now be allowed to introduce themselves and plead their cause to the Council. Gallaine will no doubt have questions for him, but all in good time. Don't let me hog the microphone just because I am the sexiest elf in the room. ;)

If this was a Peter Jackson movie, the rest of you would have a pillow fight while the Elves go off and have a long, deep conversation under a waterfall by moonlight... actually we would just gather around gazing adoringly at Gallaine... but that is not fun for the other players, so speak up. ;)

Sorry folks, quite busy all weekend and rushing to catch up! Armando had eyes on one of the brooches, and is happy to carry the claptrap from the ruined abbey until it can be pawned or becomes a burden, at which point it will be unceremoniously dumped. He would grab any spare lantern oil from poor Rufus' belongings, as well as any other items the party chooses to administer.

By the way, I assume we should update our characters in the PC thread. How do we handle rolling for hit points?

The split was based on the Danhem Formula which left a 5gp 4cp unaccounted for. BY the orininal method Beringar should have gotten a mere 5sp 7cp, lets us instead give Beringar 1gp, yes a single Gold Coin with the stated intent that when we set out we set out into a war zone and we want him to be well prepared.

That leaves 4gp 4cp in the slush fund.

Magic Items: These are under the charge if Josiane since we do not know what if any the party can keep. So unless someone wishes to say otherwise it came down like this.

The Rosary Beads - Dorgan
The pearly sphere is a Queerious Speculem, a crystal ball - Ulric
The gnarled staff is one of three Theraic Staves - Josiane
The Lentive Demitasse--a Cup of Healing-- - Torben
The Tome is a spell book containing the full set of 3rd level clerical-spells. - Josiane

Non_magic Items: These we need to carry to another market or just keep and trinkets. A few people said they wanted things something also have an obvious home.

The Grell Lair :
A tiny Enigma on a bracelet,
A walking staff topped with an Enigma (being the key to the Reliquary door) (This we should keep)
A censor,
two tiny daggers, - Desmond
two broach pins,
a small prayer book, - Josiane
a pouch of dry tea, - Highbough

The Burned Out Chapel
A 12" silver plated, and etched with Holy prattle.
An 18" tall, silver plated, and etched candelabra fashioned to resemble the Enigma of Thuul.

The Reliquary:
A silver basin
A fancifully decorated staff
A great (as in large and thick) book. - Ulric

those things not marked are assumed to be carried by whom ever has room..... Again speak up if this is not correct.

EDITED: changed Cup of Healing to Torben
Thanks mgtremaine... legendary!

You just made my day, Mushgnome! It *does* really feel like we're in a Peter Jackson movie (not thinking of Bad Taste, though)!

On another note, I enjoyed reading about the "new" classes, and remembered the others previously used, the Marksman and the Alchemist. Will you be writing up those as well, WotE?

I'll be writing up the Marksman, for sure. The Alchemist, maybe later--he's very much like a magic-user, but with a unique spell list.

Okay folks, I just spent a couple of days converting my huge PCs spreadsheet over to the stock DD rules... almost there now.

I just have to add a section for spells allowed per day... and there's still some work to do for the dual-classed PCs we're about to have. Those guys get three PC sheets each; one for each class, and a third one (which is used in play) that picks and chooses the best stats from the other two. Craziness...

And in my spare time I've been working on a Grand Opus covering "Normal Combat" for Delving Deeper; basically it's a fast resolution system (using d6s) for large combats involving lots of mooks. Amazingly, it seems to work, and to produce nigh on the same results as DD's standard "Heroic" system (using d20s, d6s, and recording hit points). More on that later (when you next run into 300 goblins).
