Karl, Herald, Wetzel, and Zax stride directly and purposefully into melee position as the goblin anti-hero kicks himself free of the wrecked sofa and backs into the corner so as he can't be surrounded. There is little room for four Men (or Gnomes) to melee the fat goblin in the corner, but inside a frantic minute our fighters overwhelm the unarmoured, unarmed goblin, swiftly cutting him down.

"No fair," he hacks at the last moment before he is beaten.
Okay, so the combat turn continues. Sticking fast to the OOB...

The surprise segment was spent with only Akbar firing.
A. Initiative: The players have the initiative.
B. Spells/Missiles: There is no spell casting or further missile fire (although Zax could potentially have flung a hand-ax as he closed, although it's doubtful he could have hit the target behind the sofa/pavaise).
C. Movement: Karl, Herald, Wetzel, and Zax close the short distance (only 4") to join melee.
Goblin anti-hero backpeddles 1".
D. Under half a move was required, so there can be up to two rounds of melee this turn.
E. First round:
There is limited fighting space, so which players can get an attack this round? Highest two throws (K=3, H=1, W=2, Z=2). Wetzel and Zax are equal highest, so three players will attack this round; the Herald is out-maneuvered.
Players: 3@Man+1 [d20+1]=2, 10, 4; no hits.
Goblin anti-hero: 4@Man[d20]=12, 5, 2, 6; no hits.
E.Second round:
Highest two throws (K=1, H=4, W=3, Z=2), so it's Herald and Wetzel.
Players: 2@Man+1 [d20+1]=19, 12; two hits. 2d6=6, 3. Total 9 hp damage.
At 14 hp damage, the anti-hero is slain.

The Herald scoffs at the fallen enemy.

Fair is for the Gods to decide.

Assuming no further threats arrive immediately, Wetzel takes off his helm, wipes his brow, and takes a moment to listen for noises in this section of the fortress.

"Gah," snorts Zax, eyeing the bloated corpse with resigned disgust, "thought we might 'av got a bit more jiggle out'o that one."

He collects his throwing axe and sheaths it on his back, then scans the room for further exits and any hidden gobbo's.

Dopey, bursts into the room with a helmet full of hot coals, and exclaims "Look out Fried! There's some awful thing behind that door!!!"

The Herald smiles upon seeing the rest of the group.

You made it! Finally ran out of presents to open?

Leudigar follows Dopey into the room and surveys the area.

"Damn, you lot are hard to track down! Next time you go rushing off, mark your path!"

He walks over to the large anti-hero goblin (recently retired) and looks it over. If nobody else appears to be doing it, he will search the body for anything of value. Then he takes a more detailed examination of the room before turning to the others, "Anyone have any idea where we are? We sort of got lost trying to find you..."

Fried strolls into the room, "Hey, there! We've been looking for you folks."
Sorry, I should have posted here to start with. :)

"Yeah, and ran out of Snorks to kill, too." Freid says, "Decided to come see where you had run off to. It looks like you've picked up somebody new."

Freid looks at the new guy in the group saying, "I'm Freid, this is Leudigar and that's Dopey. There's more that'll come through in a minute. I'll let them introduce themselves."

The Herald

Zax has been good at finding us things to kill. Only he's very impatient. You'd think he was keeping score or something.

The new guy was a captive we freed. He's been a good addition so far.
