Re: (079) What a Gnome Knows

Karl, Herald, Wetzel, and Zax stride directly and purposefully into melee position as the goblin anti-hero kicks himself free of the wrecked sofa and backs into the corner so as he can't be surrounded. There is little room for four Men (or Gnomes) to melee the fat goblin in the corner, but inside a frantic minute our fighters overwhelm the unarmoured, unarmed goblin, swiftly cutting him down.
"No fair," he hacks at the last moment before he is beaten.

Okay, so the combat turn continues. Sticking fast to the OOB...
The surprise segment was spent with only Akbar firing.
A. Initiative: The players have the initiative.
B. Spells/Missiles: There is no spell casting or further missile fire (although Zax could potentially have flung a hand-ax as he closed, although it's doubtful he could have hit the target behind the sofa/pavaise).
C. Movement: Karl, Herald, Wetzel, and Zax close the short distance (only 4") to join melee.
Goblin anti-hero backpeddles 1".
D. Under half a move was required, so there can be up to two rounds of melee this turn.
E. First round:
There is limited fighting space, so which players can get an attack this round? Highest two throws (K=3, H=1, W=2, Z=2). Wetzel and Zax are equal highest, so three players will attack this round; the Herald is out-maneuvered.
Players: 3@Man+1 [d20+1]=2, 10, 4; no hits.
Goblin anti-hero: 4@Man[d20]=12, 5, 2, 6; no hits.
E.Second round:
Highest two throws (K=1, H=4, W=3, Z=2), so it's Herald and Wetzel.
Players: 2@Man+1 [d20+1]=19, 12; two hits. 2d6=6, 3. Total 9 hp damage.
At 14 hp damage, the anti-hero is slain.
