Dieter will get a bow and a quiverfull of arrows, if he can. Why let Olaf have all the fun? (He'll still keep his trusty old sling, of course...).
He'll see about getting more shields. Those never seem to last.
Also clothing. It would be nice to wear something that actually bends, for instance. (His old outfits can be burned or buried as an act of sanitation.)
And he'll happily join Olaf for some archery practice.

Armando returns to the Elven Quartermaster and goes about acquiring a new set of clothing and, like most others, a two-week supply of waybread from the Elves for whatever road awaits.

OOC: I was under the impression that the list of items Ways presented were being offered free of charge. I think we can buy better armor and weapons. If they have ring or chainmail for our front line fighters Ulric will offer some silver to help cover the cost.

"Wut? You mean..." He swallows hard. "You mean... kill Mondes?" He glances at the head to his right. Then he shakes his own head in the negative, "That's... I mean, he's... Would you ask me to kill Ulric? Or The Gustave?"
He stands up and adjusts his sword forward on his hip, "We appreciate the gesture, ma'am, but... We're alright, thanks." Then they leave.
"I didn't mean..."
But the Hobbit(s) have already gone.
Josiane sighs. She had a sermon on the nature of Duality and Singularity and their inherent Sacred Unity all prepared. Indeed, she'd been worrying over it most of the night...
But ultimately she gives a nod of the head and a slight smile. This is the outcome she had quietly rather hoped for. Praise the White Lady.
She sets off to assist Lord
Ulric, humming a favourite hymn softly to herself...

The following morning, after a decent breakfast--supplied by the elves--the military types visit the quartermaster and spend a couple of hours sizing themselves for carapace, belts, straps, cloaks, and so on as well as inspecting bows, spears, and arrows. Some desire to test the elvish bows on a target range, and the quartermaster is pleased to oblige, clearly being rather proud of his wares.
The quartermaster will be able to outfit you with regular mail armour (at the normal Delving Deeper cost for such, which is 35sp).
Others are involved in sorting and packing a great three-week store of elvish waybread into the company's packs...
Meanwhile, Ulric and Josiane consider the workings of the crystal ball, and between them they eventually contrive to cause a lengthy "virtual scroll" of spurious runes to flow through the misty interior of the device (aka the man pages). Josiane recognises the runes as an ancestral form of the present day Empyrean symbols, and with much concentration is able to divine their general meaning. From there, it doesn't take long (mere hours) to master the basic use of the wondrous device!

Before departing the Elven Quartermaster's storeroom, Armando lingers a moment to share his admiration for the silvered dagger he purchased earlier. "The Lady Gallain mentioned the black blood earlier, but seemed reticent to answer further inquiries on the subject... Perhaps you can elucidate? Such information, like this fabulous blade here, might be of great importance to us in our endeavors... "

The Quartermaster frowns dubiously at
Armando's question,
"A devolved condition that affects Men, I believe, but I don't concern myself overly with the leech craft of any kind. You might ask the Loremaster, if it pleased you."
In truth the Quartermaster is more interested keeping a keen eye on what supplies are being packed--carefully itemising everything that is procured-- and also in the ad hoc archer range that is being set up. Several other elves have decided to join in, for they love to shoot arrows also.
"Let us have a contest!" declares one of the nimble way-watchers.
"Yes! A contest!" agree several others enthusiastically.
"What shall we wager?" asks another.
| If the players desire, we shall have ourselves a little shooting contest with prizes proportional to whatever you are willing to stake

Olaf grins and says, "I'm sure none of
us are as good as you, but a little competition is always a good way to improve. I don't have a lot of silver to gamble away, but I'll put up as much as 10 sp just for the experience and training I will get from challenging you."
"And if I should win, as unlikely as that is, what are you willing to wager?" he asks continuing to grin.

Torben
Torben's ears perk up at the mention of a wager. He hefts his coin purse and turns to Olaf. 'What's this about a contest...?' he asks, before noticing the throng of elves and their bows.
'Distance? Accuracy? Draw weight? Missiles loosed?'

"Alas the delicate and noble art of archery eludes me; my only missile weapon is this sling, made in haste from an old boot during one of my darker hours. I shall conduct myself to your Loremaster and belabor him with my idle questions." And with that Armando is off to find the Loremaster.
