Wen is all to aware of the chaos that has ensued. He does his best to focus the Leer on a Wolf, while bringing the dancing candles into the fray to confuse the Wolves further. Lastly he holds Torch and Staff ready to thrust the Torch into the face of anything that get past the others.

Desmond lets out a quiet "whew" as Josiane shows up at his side. Even Mondes appears to be grateful. At least, he isn't complaining...

"Thanks. Strength in numbers," Desmond says steadily, feeling stronger already.

Mondes spits in the direction of the wolves and whistles.

Desmond shakes his head in disbelief and says, "Now is not the time for whistling, Mon.... wait. Maybe it is! How could I be so stupid? Mondes, you're going to have to breathe for us for a bit."

Then he puts his silver whistle into his mouth and blows. He blows for as long as he can, without stopping.

Who knows how long he can maintain it, what the physiology of Desmond and Mondes looks like on the inside since the transformation. But Desmond is hoping that Mondes can breathe for them while he continually blows the silver whistle.

"Courage, friends. With the blessings of the White Lady and your stout sword-arms we shall carry the day. Let us send these fiends back to Hell!"
"So," Dieter says, over the din of battle, grinning, "no prisoners, then?"

"Absolutely not," replies Josiane crisply as she readies herself to receive the enemy's charge...

Gustave sighs at the sight of yet more wolves.

"Dogs everywhere...this reminds me of a night I spent in the harem of Raj Shinoo of the Fawaa."

He flicks his still unblooded blade through the air and moves beside Guntram.

"Are these for us then my dear Ulric? Or perchance are you still brimming with barely restrained sorcerous gusto?"

"If these are ordinary wolves, let us see if steel can win the day," Ulric replies to Gustave. "But if there are too many I do have two more spells."

Ulric pauses as he sees Guntrum eat something.

"Interesting..."

Torben

"Looks like they want to join their friend..." Torben remarks, as he peers back to the front of the group. He'll then stare out the party's flank to see if Armando's lantern light reveals any trouble on the second front.

The West Chamber
(Torban, Rufus, Gustave, Ulric, Guntram and Armando)

Gutram experiences a rush of vertigo as he (and his gear) rapidly enlarge to double size, and donks his head upon the now too low ceiling! Fully grown, he can just about stand, hunched over, and fills the passage entirely blocking everyone else's view. Ugh, it's soooo inconvenient to be confined -- he wants to stretch his mighty muscles!

(Guntrum has grown to 12ft tall and 6 HD (27/27 hp). He AC is 6/8. The wolves make a reaction check; 2d6=4).

The wolves are not at all keen on this new and enormous foe, and begin backing off, growling as they do so.

The Blighted Passage
(Josiane, Desmond/Mondes, Dorgan, Dieter and Wen)

(1d20; Dieter=1,11, one hit 1d6=3. Dorgan=13,6, one hit 1d6=4. Two Wolfmen=9,8,5,11, all misses~! Ref rolls up some hit points...)

The wolfmen seems incredulous that they have been harmed, and their yellow eyes glow with rage! Obviously they are not accustomed to enemy of such quality, and they fall back under the heavy barrage of grim blows metered out by Dieter and Dorgan.

Meanwhile, behind, the tide of baying wolves come rushing at Desmond/Mondes as Josiane bravely moves into a supporting position, and Wen sends his eye-fire and candles flames zipping among them. Desmond/Mondes blows long and hard upon his wolf-whistle as the canine onslaught come on...

(The wolves make a reaction check; 2d6=3!)

...and they fall into confusion as their ears prick up and head them in all directions. Some veer sharply one way or the other, others jerk back to listen, others fall to the ground with their paws over their ears. But their charge is broken up without falling upon their prey and our heroes are spared for at least a moment.

Dieter and Dorgan sense the four wolfmen are offended by the noise also... but spy beyond them another pair of black-robed priests standing in the runic doorway, observing the melee from a relatively safe distance.
