Willie: "We don't want to fight that up close until we know more about it! If it gets too close, retreat!"

Willie will add his sling to the volley.

Kiplyn will pull back behind the line of slingers. Having torch in hand there is little else he can do but stand ready.

Seeing bilfur has a lit torch he will use this as a melee weapon once the slingers volley their shots and if the thing moves into melee range. Bilfur is no fighter

OOC: I think it's a good plan! The slingers have pretty good odds of dropping the carrion crawler before it can reach melee range. The +1 'close range' bonus will be in effect. Hobbets have the racial ability to sling a stone up to 15". I may have slightly misruled this earlier, but in Delving Deeper system, 15" breaks down to range increments Close/Medium/Maximum = 5"/10"/15" = +1/0/-4.

(Most underground battles within the 30' radius of torchlight or lanternlight are considered 'close' range.)

Robur fires his sling with as much gusto (and accuracy) as he can muster!

Dougal likewise wings a sling stone at the crawler.
