It's tight is the passage, but Rodrick's training pays off in spades (1d20=20!) as he expertly exerts a wrestler's grasp on the hapless piece of squirming, animated meat -- pinning it in prone position such that its chest and belly are exposed to both Caine and Dieter.

Both Men know what to do, and prepare a coup de grace.

Caine thrusts a dagger into it's rasping throat for (2dd=3,4) 4 hit points of damage, which is enough to still the monster's struggling, and as Rodrick dumps the body to the ground Dieter drives his sword deeply into it for good measure causing another (2dd=5,6) 7 hit points of damage.

The crumpled corpse really is messed up now and lies still at their feet. For now.

(Coup de grace my ass; I'm leaning toward Terminate With Extreme Predjudice.)

With the grisly post-fighting butchery completed to Dieter's satisfaction, the party gathers in the fountain chamber -- huddling about the entrance nearest to the passage by which they entered -- in order to nurse their hurts. Olaf wedges his burning torch in a crack over the doorway, and Ulric's lantern continues to burn.

Olaf, Dieter and Taines all take time to stanch their bleeding, clean their various wounds, and to cover them over. They take refreshing drafts and an invigorating bite to eat form their supplies, and then refit their armour.

While Taines rests he (therapeutically) grinds down the nick in the the blade of his axe, and casually asks about for some lantern oil.

Aside from Olaf's magefire oil, Ulric has the only remaining oil -- 2 flasks full, and a third three-quarters full. Taines' helm requires a quarter flask to fill.

Meanwhile, Anwyn takes stock of where everyone is...

Olaf, Dieter and Taines are resting, while Rodrick assists them with their hurts.

Caine lingers in the entry passage, keeping watch incase the slain corpses should rise yet again...

Mads, Ulric and Victor are keeping an eye on the other dark entrances to the chamber while the wounded recuperate...

Ulric gives Taines a flask of oil to refill the lantern on his helmet.

"We haven't much of this left, so let's not start any more fires shall we? Victor found some items on our two deceased friends here," he says tilting his head toward the hobgoblin corpses. "I'm not sure what it was."

Ulric then moves to the wall just north of western archway in the fountain room. He peers around the corner and shines his lantern down the dark passage to see if any more dangers lie in wait for them.

Victor spits and mutters to himself (charisma 7) before revealing the a handful of 11 copper coins and a small clay pot which he took from the slain Hobgoblins.

In the dark underground confines it is not exactly clear which direction is west, but Ulric check moves to the passage which was to his right when he first entered the fountain chamber, and casts his lantern light down the dark passage. The further along the stonework seems to develop a damp or wet sheen, and at the limit of his sight Ulric spies another T intersection.

Thankfully, there is no further interruption to the rest and recovery, and soon Taines, Olaf and Dieter are all rested and ready to go.

Taines happily accepts Ulric's flask of oil, and refills his lantern and gets the light warmed up again.

---

Taines has recovered (1d6=2) 2 hit points, and now has 8 of 12 hit points.

Olaf has recovered (1d6=4) 4 hit points, and now back up to 6 of 6 hit points.

Dieter has recovered (1d6=6) 6 hit points, and now back up to 7 of 7 hit points.

"Tah Ulric, muchly appreciated" Taines says taking the flask.

As Taines fill the vessel in the helmet, he looks around the room "Where to next then. It appears we have a wee furry one ahead of us. Maybe we should head back, and have us a peak in the locked room, before we come back here."

Taines sighs, "Not sure if I can handle another swim so soon"

Olaf nods agreement, "Check out All of the rooms! Even those that are probably prison cells and are bared from the outside, for they might contain treasures left behind, or even prisoners recent captured and left there by the hobgoblins we encountered here."
