I'm really not a huge fan of being last, but will do so this venture. Certainly expect less action and more reaction from this position. That means Willy, Dame, Bilfur and Wilbur will need to maintain forward action most of the time.

Dougal will hold the second light.

Willie was up-front-light-bearer last delve, why don't we switch? Willie would be interested in taking up the rear because he wants to keep an ear out for Spider-Goats and other tails.

I certainly don't mind taking my turn at the rear of the party. But if Willie wants a break from the front rank, Dougal will light the way.

Beppo accepts his placement in the marching order and waits his turn to go down the ladder. In the cave, Beppo is impressed by it enough that he almost whistles out loud. Almost. Embarrassed, he looks around to see if anyone noticed him pursing his lips.

Turns 1-3

It takes about a half-hour for the party of eight to finalize the marching order, double-check their packs and weapons, descend the long ladder, queue up for the 'tight squeeze,' and crawl through the tunnel to the puffball cave.

Dame Simonetta is the first to emerge. She doesn't see or hear any sign of monsters, so she gives the 'all clear.'

Dougal is the next to come through, carrying his lantern, and that's when all hell breaks loose:

There is a hideous bleating "BAAAAAAA!!!" and a farm-animal-sized creature swoops down out of the darkness at the end of its web. It is aiming directly for Dougal like it is trying to bowl him over!

The party is not surprised. Only Dame Simonetta, Dougal, and Wilbur can act on this 1st round. The others are all stacked up, single-file, in the tight-squeeze passage, trying to figure out what's going on.

OOC: Wandering monster 1d6=6, surprise 1d6=3.

Kiplyn hears the dreaded "BAAAAA" and frowns. "We really need to rid the caves of that beast". He would ready his dagger and wait to file through the opening.

Dougal throws his right hand out at the spidergoat in a punch-like motion, leaving his fist pointed at it.

"Be gone, foul thing! Bother us no more," he shouts!

Noh prepares his sling, as best as he can in the tight quarters.
