Gustave and Co. stride through the busy streets in a generally uphill direction, returning to the well to do district mostly by retracing their own steps. The streets are busy with midday traffic, but they push through the eager throng of Men and Goblins of all persuasions.

Soon they locate the money changer; and establishment called The Crumenal. The weather faded sign out front depicts two hands exchanging coins.

It is a narrow stone building, grey and green with verdigris. Two step lead up to the plain wooden door, behind which a miniature bell tinkles as they step inside. Otherwise the interior is cool, dim and fastidiously clean and tidy.

There is a very thick necked guard dressed in ridiculously tight formal shirt with starched cuffs and collar and bright brassy buttons loitering inside the door, and a small, bespectacled Goblin behind a clean marble counter.

"What can I do for ye, gentlemen?" snipes the impeccably dressed, balding Goblin sitting behind the counter.

OOC: Is there an assumption that Desmond stopped by the weapons shop to pick up a sling? Or was the money lender closer?

Desmond lets the Gustave do all of the talking as he mostly tries his best to not draw attention to himself. er... themselves?

Apologies, I neglected to mention that Desmond/Mondes picked up a nice sturdy sling from a leather worker on the way back to the Crumenal.

And she waits to see what sort of a reaction that engenders...

(I will assume Josiane is wearing her armour and carrying her weapons. Being a Templar these are her badges of honour and she wouldn't lightly go without them.)

The voice replies again;
"This is a place of peace, once-sister Josiane. I see that you dress as a Man, and bear arms as a Man. No Man nor sword nor mace nor any weapon is permitted to pass this door. You must abandon your arms, else share your mission where you stand."

He pauses before him, fumbling in his pocket (for an inordinate amount of time it seems) before plonking a single electrum coin on the counter. The fat Goblin sniffs down his nose at Dorgan and Desmond/Mondes.

"You should choose your company with care," he remarks snidely as he picks up the coin and examines it in detail with a telescopic eye piece, "Dwarves cannot be trusted."

He uses an eye dropper to wet the coin with a few drips of pale fluids, and sniffs and polishes it, examining the results.

"These I can change for two silver shillings and three copper pennies apiece." he declares when he is done.

Dorgan bristles at the insult. "Now wait just'a minute, ya spinach-colored..."

"Rrrright you are then", breathes Gustave, picking up his coin and pocketting it hastily, "We know where to come then" he adds with a nod and, gathering his comrades (paying particular attention to the rapidly reddening dwarf) exits the parlor.

Dorgan tries to finish his retort but it's hard to shout over your shoulder when a much taller Man in full plate armor is dragging you out of the store.

"Now then", he says, once again in the sunshine (and keeping an eye on Dorgan lest he run back into the shop to wring the goblins scrawny neck), "Weed and wine I think was next on the menu."

"d**ned gobbos get my dander up. Mebbe yer right, Gustave. Might be time ta head back 'n see if anyone's up fer taking out some frustration on a centipede or two..."

"I am perfectly willing to leave my arms and armour in your care, Sister," Josiane replies, putting a slight emphasis on your care. "I trust that is acceptable to you?"
