Wendel coughs and splutters, but eventually comes forth with a lantern which he labouriously ignites (to Dugel's immense frustration) and then holds over the doorway.

Snart stands gloomily by at sword point and allows Rufus to investigate the doorway once again...

Rufus is convinced as ever that the doorway is quite un-trapped, at least on this side. There are no spikes, springs, wires, or levers, or trapdoors that he can see.

What now?

"As you please, Snart." Mads says, jabbing in his direction with the sword.

FYI -- Snart only had to stand by to make way for Rufus to complete his doings...

Are you intending to slay him, or to prod him into action?

OOC: Prod him into action. Mads wants to see Snart attempt to open the door.

Snart hisses and fusses under Mads' jabbing sword point, and quickly reaches the door where he rattles at the door knob over zeaously, but it doesn't budge.

"'Tis lock-ed, 'tis lock-ed," he whines, but doesn't stop rattling at it.

Mads gently lays his arm on Rufus' shoulder to draw him back away from the door. "Snart, I believe you. Hold your ear up to the door--your hearing is far better suited than ours. Is there anybody on the other side?"

While Snart is doing so, Mads will cast the Genuflect Yaw(/b) on the door.

Snart dubiously leans down to listen at the door... and Mads (rather cruelly) unleashes his timber warping sorcery.

The door suddenly contorts and buckles, and the timbers burst awkwardly out of their iron bindings. Snart leaps back with a squeal "Eeeyyyaakkk!" and runs for his life, down the stair, squealing all the way.

The door is sundered.

If Rufus is able to get an attack, he will do a back stab or a normal attack, on Snart as he passes so to kill him.

After that Rufus smiles at Mads , "Nice work", and then looks carefully through the open door way to see what is beyond.

Rufus licks his lips. Is it lunchtime yet?

With the door timbers all warped and burst from their bindings, it is possible to see through some of the yawning gaps and into the chamber beyond.

Curiously, it is lit; there are half a dozen or so wide-rimmed, brass torch scones upon tall, twisting wrought legs, and two of these hold torches that sputter and burn. At the far end of the room, which is perhaps 80ft deep and 40ft wide, is a great circular portal that is tall enough to reach the ceiling.

The massive round door appears to be ajar... and there are some sacks on the floor right in front of it.

What now?
