Leudigar now concentrates his efforts on the hydra. Trying to stay out of danger as long as possible, he begins firing arrows at the large multi-headed reptile.

Karl either hands off his torch or simply drops it, then gets out his bow and fires at the hydra.

(But he's ready to drop bow and draw sword quickly should the need arise.)

Assuming he thinks he can continue to get clear shots at the thing while it's in melee with is comrades, Wetzel keeps up missile fire at the hydra. If the fray is too chaotic to allow firing at the thing's "upper regions", he'll stow his bow, take up his spear, and charge!

Zem see is the Herald die out of the corner of his eye, he knows he is out-matched but he is determined to FIGHT ON! "DIE WYRMKIN!" he swings his Axe again.
This is not looking good for me... We've put 1 head down and a total of 13 damage into the beast but I'm the only target for 4 heads. I will die most likely.

From the DD Hypertext: "Note that monsters are not all “meant” to be beatable. Some will be deadly foes and players should learn to flee from these."

Yep ... I just think I'm spot were retreat seems unlikely, or the outcome of retreat vs attack seems the same... I have helm and shield I might survive one more round

Defending makes you a lot harder to hit (-4 adjustment). Now that the hydra is free it can technically attack anyone within 3", which is most of one end of the room...

Zax enjoys some mild satisfaction as his throwing ax lops off one of the beasties heads, but then frowns as two other heads shred the god-hugger. Ah well...thats where trustin' in gods'll get ya... but, the long-legs seemed reasonable for a man

He puffs his moustache at the beast, then lines up one of the heads with his pick

Akbar returns to a safe spot hopefully out of reach of a hydra neck, and reloads the arbelast.

Freid sees the Hag killed, so he stops and goes into defensive mode.

"Form a line of defense!" he shouts, "Bowmen fire over us at this monster!"

Freid will practice what he shouted, stepping out and forming one end of a defensive line...now if only some of our warriors will join him.

"Zem, fall back and join the line of defense. Let the bowmen work!"
