Mads the Enlightened
Mads keeps his eyes on the hobgoblin. "Everybody up on the landing!" he calls out. "Dugel, would you be so kind as to search our prisoner?"

Once everybody's secured, Mads will order the hobgoblin down the stairs at sword point. "I hear my brother was a fair man... So, I'm giving you a choice--down the stairs or through my sword."

It may be worth noting that the way forward is not completely blocked.
Dugel's rockfall was a relatively minor one, and with ten or so minutes of labour the rubble could be largely cleared, and the door the hobgoblins were waiting by accessed. Even without clearing the rubbish it would be possible to clamber over it and go ahead.

"Nice work Dugel", smiles Rufus.
"Dugel you better stand guard with Mads, and Wendel follow me to look around", commands Rufus.
Rufus goes and careful clambers over the rocks to the door the hobgoblins were at. He is careful of any loose rocks and dangers on the way, and keeps a contant look out so not to be surprised by anything. He will sneak to the door and investigates it, then listens to what is on the other side.
OOC: Sorry about wasting time before, I thought where we are now was full of webs and spiders and I was been careful.

( I'm fine with my prior stated course of action. None of the hobgoblins seem to have picked up on any of my trigger words, so either they're too ignorant or too stupid to provide much useful information. I could kill the subdued hobgoblin outright, but if I can get him to possibly fight the spiders down the stairs (or become arachnid food if I have to kick him down the steps), it'll make me feel better about a possible later retreat down those stairs. The rubble, at least, might provide some degree of defense against a surprise attack from Ruglud's cronies or anyone/thing else that might come through the other door, so for now I'm willing to put it out of my thoughts until the more immediate threat is dealt with.)

Wendel and Rufus scamper up onto the landing, and these additional arrivals cause the Hobgoblin to cower and whimper like a beaten dog.
"I'd as soon run my knife through 'im than touch 'im," says Dugel gruffly, and stands arms folded glowering directly at the prisoner in true Dwarfish fashion.

Meanwhile, Rufus scampers over the 2ft pile rubble with the ready agility of a mountain goat, and discovers that the adjacent door is hardly blocked at all. If it opens inward (as most door do), then there shouldn't be any problem opening it...

Mads shrugs. "Fine." While holding the blade firmly against the hobgoblin, he searches what pockets or bags, if any, he can access with his free hand. His eyes stay fixed on his prisoner, though, and he goes about looking for coin by feel.

"Wendel keep a look out will you while I check this door", says Rufus.
Rufus detects traps around the door and the lock and if all seems fine listens on the door. Then if he hears nothing he will test if the door is locked and have a peak inside and shut it again ...

Mads pats the hobgoblin down and discovers a small coin purse, a pair of rusty caltrops and a finger-sized dried lizard.
"Thet's me Bertee," offers the goblin, nervously, regarding the lizard.

Wendel coughs violently into his handkerchief as he waves Rufus away... though exactly how well he can keep a watch while spluttering and hacking like a speared seal is in interesting question.
However, Rufus leaves him be and concentrates on the doorway...

He checks the frame, the handle, and lock hole, and the gap beneath the door... but it all appears perfectly mundane.
