Gerhard, bloodily stumbling back, retreats even further...

Even with Wetzel and Gerhard withdrawing, the players now have a numerical advantage over the goblins, 4:2. Wetzel's offer of terms is lost amid the continued fighting, with Zax, Karl, Akbar, and The Herald pressing the attack. Zax sustains a minor hurt, but the two remaining hobgoblins are swiftly beaten.
It's straight to the melee segment. Circumstances are unchanged, so The goblins retain the initiative:

First of three possible rounds of blows:
Goblins
Hobgoblin (man+1) 1d20+1=9 and Hobgoblin sergeant (2 men) 2d20=20,5.
The 20 is targetted at 1=Zax, 3=Karl, 4=Akbar, 5=Herald, 1d4=1, so Zax is hit. 1d6=2, down to 4 of 6.
Players
3 Men+1 3d20+1=18,17,7 and one Man 1d20=4. So two hits, 2d6=12! Both goblins slain by head hits.
Combat is over.

Wetzel checks his wounds, looks for a use-able helm among those worn by the hobgoblins, and tries to keep an ear out for approaching parties.

Zax shrugs off the pin-prick, and strides over the defeated foe and down the passage-way to check for any late-comers.

Dungeon exploration turn 13 covered two one minute combat turns, with the remainder taken up with rest and recouping. (possibly they could have been turns 13 and 14, but in an effort to keep time aligned with the other group, I'll call it all one dungeon exploration turn).

What next?

Akbar examines the goblin bodies — anything interesting about 'em? He's not interested in carrying their purses home, he's looking for anything peculiar about their attire, armament etc.

The Herald keeps watch on the entrances, slightly favoring the one from which the goblins emerged.

We'll see if that ruckus woke up any other of these scoundrels.
Sorry I missed the fun of combat. Trying to get my notifications to work so I see when new posts are made.

There are no late-comers forthcoming as far as Zax can tell.

Meanwhile, Wetzel and the Herald keeps an eye out, and Akbar inspects the bodies, nudging them with the toe of his boot; they are what hobgoblins ought to be; gangly, stooped creatures with long arms and fingers good for squeezing necks. They wore grubby hauberks and iron helms--though it didn't save them--and carried riveted cudgels and axes for weapons. There's little to discern these from the goblin-folk encountered before...

Zax shuffles down the passage-way to cast an eye over the room from whence the foe came.

The Herald follows Zax, knowing that trouble always seems to find him.
