Yes, it did.
mushgnome wrote:am I crazy or should Wetzel's helmet have saved him from the 6hp head shot?
Yes, it should have.
1 # d6 → [4] Wetzel in fact sustained 4 hp damage from the head hit rather than 6 hp.
1 # d20 → [8] But his helmet was ruined by the blow. "Armor" normally requires a throw of 12+ to withstand adversity.

Alfwin sighs in relief and commits a quick prayer of thanks to Thuul that he was spared. "You have learned to regret starting this fight you villains, I told you it was unwise and yet you insisted. Your comrades are dead except those who fled and now you look to us for mercy. Throw down you own weapons now!"

Thick-Neck growls darkly, "You want this blade? Come take it.", as the last hobgoblin spits a wad of bloodied slag.

The Right-Hand Man says more diplomatically, "No sense in spilling more blood here. How 'bout we jest sneak off, and you lot have the field an' the loot here..." indicating the arms and possessions of the fallen.
The ref notes the regulators' morale check was a hold result, not a surrender. This, the recent butchery, and the intolerable lawful ideals makes a compete surrender out of line...

"These trifles are hardly worthy reparations for your unwarranted and unforgivable assault on our persons!", squeaked Dopey, as the hobbet clutched his wound.

"Further compensation is in order, amounting to thus: twenty-two man-days of provisions, half of all valuables in your possession (to be selected by the collecting party), prompt and veracious answers to three queries we shall pose presently."

"Not before these terms are met, may you depart. Do not think to resist or flee - for such actions will render your lives forfeit."

Leudigar shakes his head and points his sword at Thickneck and says,"We let you go and you'll just come back with more. Probably when we're least prepared. There's a price to be paid for leading a band of evil..."
He says no more words, leaving steel to be his voice.

Leudigar attacks Thickneck.

"Have at him" cheered Dopey, making no effort to assist in the attack. "Huzzah! Give him a proper licking!"

The Herald will hold the line, attacking whichever brigand remains in front of him.

I take "hold the line" to imply: "Give battle to whomever might press forward, but do not press for'd to take battle to the foe". Is this what Brother Herald intends Sully?

That aside, Leudigar the Tracker is wont to engage Thick-Neck the Myrmidon in a duel over perceived offenses. It is set to be a battle for the ages! Or, if others intervene, it will instead become a general melee.

Also: the referee belatedly notes that a Tracker, with 2-2 HD, has the FC of 2 Men-1 in normal combat--and that Leudigar was erroneously played in the recent three rounds of combat, acting instead as a Fighter with a FC of Man+1

Menno lays into the hobgoblin with his axe.

just for information's sake, what is the mechanical difference of 2 men-1 vs man+1?
