Once the flames have died down and the smoke cleared, Ulric also enters the sterile laboratory and begins to inspect the shelves, noting the contents of the jars. He also inspects the medical records, first seeing if they are in a language he knows, and then skimming their contents in the hope of discovery the purpose of this foul necromatic activity.

Rufus getting bored will enter the first chamber with the slab and search the walls for secret doors and concealed places and anything of value, amongst the shelving containing medical charts, specimen jars, bottles of unknowable liquids and earths.

An anguished shudder of revulsion and horror grips Josiane as she takes in the terrible display in the laboratory. She watches on as it is torched in an anguished, dazed silence.
But at length, as the fires dim, a grim, cold purposefulness descends upon her fair face. Her whole body language hints at a pent-up fury within barely held in check. And her grey eyes burn with a fire none present have seen before.
"There will be a reckoning for this."
With a briskness borne of purpose she moves to join Rufus in his search of the room with the body of her violated Once-Sister, examining the shelves with her healer's knowledge for anything that may be of use. She is also keeping an eye out for any gathered herbs, in particular anything resembling wolfbane...
Once this is achieved she will be eager to move on.
"Let us go. I have matters to settle with this 'Saint Carrie...'"

"
Well..." says
Gustave as
Josiane hastes from the room, a faint hint of sulphur in her wake.
Giving
Olaf a friendly nudge, he adds "
She is particularly desirable when she is mad eh?"

Ulric pauses his study of some medical documents for a moment to look up.
"But why would they leave such an important device at the surface and unguarded. No, I think this is likely an ongoing experiment of some kind."
"But even if not I don't think we should backtrack just yet. We've only just begun our newly devised plan."

Olaf keeps a nervous lookout from the doorway leading back into the passage, while the others rifle through the shelves of bottles and curious.
Armando fires a lantern and Wen another candle to aid the looting and the company conjecture the meaning of the grisly find. Little sense seems to be forthcoming as Dorgan wanders about the perimeter of the room, knocking the skirtings with his hard-capped boot and listening for any possible hollows (d6). He encounters instead what may be a disguised trapdoor in the rear section floor...
Ulric and Highbough flick through the various papers they find, Highbough swiping a sheaf of them (which vanishes into his invisible robes) as Ulric gleans the writings to be penned in some derivative form of the Empyrean script, that most commonly used by the clerical hierarchy.
Meanwhile Rufus, Desmond/Mondes, and angry Josiane move back into the infirmary and search among the bottles and shelves for anything useful. Josiane locates herself some wolfsbane, and Desmond/Mondes gathers a clutter of small bottles appear to be acids. Rufus finds some interesting bugs and spiders floating in solution, but the writing is all over his head...
What now?
