The Second.

Didn't bother me as much as losing Mads the Fair (I), but things move on. At least his boon, the cold iron axe, is still in the game.

Yes, Mads the fair dying was sad. I also like how the Axe is living on. Perhaps in the far future the history of the company will be sung as the ballad of the axe.

Given the turn over and the resulting looting of boons I am, semi-jokingly, wondering if the company makes more coin from adventuring or looting dead companions. I think adventuring has the edge but It might be close.

I love seeing the different boons and how people use them.

It was hard to watch Mads the Fair's end here, as well. I'm sure the sentiment is the same with the rest of the party.

I'm glad Mads' Cold Iron Axe is in more capable hands now.

Also glad Desmond/Mondes can carry a shield again...

Ulric certainly benefited greatly from the unfortunate demise of Flewellen.

When Ulric finally falls his Grimoire will be a prize indeed.

But don't get any ideas.

There is certainly loot "to be had", but on a number of occasions reasonably substantial hauls have just slipped by. I seem to remember, vaguely, that Olaf left a sack full of gold and silver behind when he was lost and alone in a dungeon, and Andaros took a great sack full of loot with him to his doom when he fell into a ravine. A few other niceties have escaped notice along the way too... and restoring Olaf's lost levels has required a large security. The end result is that cash flow has been "tight" so far

Eh? This bothers me. You mean we've had stuff within our grasp and not noted it for what it was? Or we've been close to getting loot but didn't really quite get there?

Well, on the small end, I know we've skipped looting bodies after a battle before and other things like that.

In Olaf's case he had to drop the loot so he could carry an injured pc, saved his life later. You know, I've expected Olaf to die several times, he's been incredibly lucky. There aren't many of us who started the game and are still on our 1st PC.

I believe it's just Olaf, Dieter, and Ulric from the original company.

I'm certainly surprised that Ulric is still alive; although I think Ways went easy on us in the Ogre's gatehouse (you know, after he threw a battalion of hobgoblins and a giant at us).

I know that there is still plenty to be found in that ruined keep we first visited. We barely scratched the surface of that one. Once we conclude our business with the abbey I think a return there is in order to refill our coffers (and likely lose one or two PCs).
