"This ain't good," growls Victor, and spits savagely. "Ain't good at all!"
"Jam the door somehow!" he grunts, looking about desperately for some means of doing so, "Or else set it afire!"
"No this ain't good." Olaf says, "I don't think setting the door afire will help, better to keep that door between us and the beasts, if we can."
Olaf feels around to see what he has on him, or is around that might be used to jam the door closed. If they open the door, Olaf is ready to bash whoever is in front and attempt to pull the door shut again.

Alas, Olaf has left most of his excess gear behind, and there is hardly a thing beyond a loose flagstone in the passage. Worse... the door opens into the room, so it will be very difficult to jam it from this side.
There are still unexplored passages left and right... or else back the way they came.
Both Victor and Olaf can hear the slapping of reptilian feet rushing up to the door from the inside...

"Oh, hell!" Olaf curses, "I hate to do this!"
He pours the flask of magefire oil around the doorway and out into the passage and sets it alight.
"Let's try to run for it!", he says as he turns left and takes off at a good speed, holding the mostly full lantern up to light the way.

Olaf empties his reserve of magefire oil, and just as he leans down with his lantern the door is ripped open, and two or three of the Croc-men he saw earlier are about to jump out at him as he sets a spark from his lantern to the fuel.
It goes up with a startling WHUMMP! and a great gout of bright white fire has both Olaf, and the lizards diving for cover, shielding their faces from the intense heat.
The magefire oil burns hot and strong, now illuminating the passage brightly, and making any crossing over the threshold madness.
"Let's off," grates Victor as he staggers away from the danger. Olaf is inclined to agree, and he too hoofs it while the fire lasts...

The grimy passage ahead is narrow now, scarcely 5ft wide, and strewn with loose rocks and stands of old cobwebs...
After a score or pace quick paces, the passageway veers somewhat to the right, and once the two Men have turned the corner the light from the bright fire behind them recedes with every step, until it is vanished in the darkness.
Ahead now, they arrive at a Y shaped junction in the passage, wherein three passages meet at a small antechamber of sorts. This space is merely a score or so feet across, and hexagonal in shape. There are six tall arches worked into the walls; one on each face. Three of the are open passages, each separated from the others by wall section without a passage. All this surrounds an ancient looking pedestal of worked stone that stands some 3ft from the ground.
The whole place is dusty and hung with filmy cobwebs...
What now?
edit : corrected dimensions.

What now?
Pause here for a second and listen for pursuit.
Hold up the lantern and shine it around looking for pictures, writing, and such on the walls and on the pedestal. What is on the pedestal?
Unless something catches my eye, Olaf will take the passage to the left. He's been veering left as much as possible because left should be away from the ravine and that direction *should* be toward up and out...that's been his reasoning, IAC.

Thankfully, no sound of pursuit comes to
Olaf's ears, nor to
Victor's.
The two Men the concentrate on what lies ahead of them.
The walls of the chamber have no discernible markings or art upon them -- but they are of roughly hew, regular sized stone blocks, clearly built to a purpose. They are covered in a layer of ancient dust and draped with many cobwebs.
Upon the pedestal there is something. Something smallish... is it a tiny pyramid, or simply a thumb-sized stone?

Well, curiosity killed the cat...but Olaf can't resist going to look at whatever is on that pedestal.
