Andaros quickly takes stock of the situation and leads Thorgrim further back into the dark ravine so that the two of them circle behind the tumultuous melee, where upon they see Victor, Boris and Fix rushing up the ravine with torches and weapons raised. "Hail!" yells Victor, clattering and bounding on the run.

Meanwhile Mads, Dieter and now Pelenwin circle around the beset Ogre who curses the pathetic knaves and his present foes. "Can't trust a Man to do an Ogre's job!" he fumes.

Initiative is rolled (1d6; Dieter=3(+1), Mads=5(+1), Deggerhund=4, Pelenwin=6(-2)).

Mads, ever nimble in the attack (1d20=19) passes Deggerhund's rude defense and hews him cruel bow for (2dd=5,1) 5 hit points that has the Ogre slashing wild eyed about him in desperate defense. "I'll gnaw on yer skull!" he promises with venom, though he appears now to be in serious trouble.

The three fighting-Men press with their numbers, with both Dieter and Pelenwin laying furious seige at the same moment at Deggerhund. The Ogre bellows at the top of his lungs, spraying blood off his fangs as he smashes (1-2=Dieter, 3-4=Mads, 5-6=Pelenwin; 1d6=2) Dieter (1d20=16) with a staggering axe blow (4dd=3,3,4,5) for a toll of 6 hit points, driving Dieter back beyond any chance of an effective counter stroke (1d20=4). But at the very same moment Pelenwin springs in from the flank (1d20=18) and smites his nemesis (3dd=1,2,6) for a skull splitting 6 hit points! Deggerhund's threats are suddenly quieted, and when Pelenwin yanks his pole axe free of the Ogre's gorey skull, the monster crashes heavily to the ground.

Meanwhile of the ledge, Olaf drops his bow and arms himself with sword and shield as he hastens toward the still-burning melee...

Nighogg clambers over the chests and scrambles down the steep incline in the semi-dark and creates an alarming racket of loose rocks and debris (test dexterity 1d6=2) that cause him to slip awkwardly. He half tumbles down the last of the slope to land in a rough and dusty heap at the bottom.

Up top both Highbough and Ulric leave Gustave's side and prepare to loose missile at the knave they suspect (but cannot see) is below them. There is a moment's pause as they scan the dark ravine for their target, and then they suddenly spot the canny fellow -- apparently skirting off along the ravine wall like a wacked coyote! Both let fly their missiles (1d20=2,7) but to no avail!

Wibert, however, has a fine view of the knave as his grabs the slain Elf's pack and then slinks off, sticking close to the cover of the ravine wall. "Here's a test of me mettle," thinks Wibert to himself and moves smartly to intercept the knave (initiative is rolled 1d6; knave=4(+1), Wibert=1(+1)). But by his short legs and the poor light, Wibert isn't able to catch the sneering fellow and he bounds off into the darkness. The best he could do is fling his knife next round...

Mads the Fair

Mads searches the Ogre and, borrowing a dagger from any willing soul, will cut out Deggerhund's left eye and whip it (the eye, not the dagger) a ways down the Ravine. "No doubt the work of One-Eyed Jack's scouts, circling Ket as we speak." he mumbles in a dry, breathless voice.

Highbough climbs down to the fallen body of Padrig and says a few words in Elvish. "Our time together was too short, my brave friend and rescuer. Rest easy now; the battle is won!"

Then he recovers his spear and daggers.

Dieter will sit up and immediately bind his wounds. (I've forgotten this step before, and I really can't afford to!)

When that's done, he can get up and behead the ogre (unless someone beats him to that).

"There is your head, you bleeding oaf," shouts Pelenwin the Brave at the motionless body before him. "By my will, I vowed to see you suffer, and this, flesh, was too short a victory. I am Pelenwin the Brave, and, by the will of Seyal, let you rot in Hell."

Pelewin then chops off the head of Deggerhund and spikes it to the end of his pole axe. He then rush over Gustave and begins to bind the unconscious man's wounds.

Nidhogg looks about at the flurry of activity that begins to happen. "Lads be quick somewhere out there is another party of equal size. That bloody Saxxon split his men! and I'd appreciate it greatly if I could travel with you at least until we're out of danger." he says with a smile and a bob of his head. He then heads toward the nearest knave hoping to scavenge a crossbow and a couple daggers.

Olaf bounds down the stairs and pauses as he sees the big Ogre killed, then wheels toward where he thinks the knave he was exchanging fire with is hiding. Seeing the knave running into the darkness, Olaf starts after him. He stops seeing the strange hobbit with the knife staring after the retreating Knave.

"You there!" Olaf shouts to the hobbit, "Be you friend or foe?"
