The door opens into the space beyond. I.e., away from you.

Yes, almost two hours have since come and gone...

If he can, Ulric places himself in the second rank, prepared to bring what power he can to the fight to come. Even better, he raises his lantern so as to light the space beyond the door once it is opened.
"Don't rush in to hastily," Ulric advices. "We don't know what unspeakable horror these devils have constructed. It's entirely possible there may be a prisoner in there as well."

There is quiet a log jam around the single door, but it's Desmond/Mondes who puts his foot into it forcefully, causing the door to burst inward with a clatter.
Those nearest the front see by the dim orange light another infirmary room of similar dimensions to the last. But the room is mostly bare; sterile.
Instead of a medical slab in the middle of the room there is a bizarre circular, metal dais. To either side a shiny steel pole stands vertically, and between the poles is a network of string and wires that hold a gory collection of lungs and other organs suspended, stretched taut in mid air. The whole of this "apparatus" is animated by some diabolical force, for the lungs appear to shudder and... breath, the heart jerks intermittently, causing the whole of the macabre mess to convulse arrhythmicaly.
It is not a fair thing to see.

Dieter tears his eyes away from the horrible contraption and scans the room. Is that the only thing in the room, or are there any enemies to wreak vengeance upon? Also, any other exits?

Desmond turns away and coughs at the sight of the internal organs strung up and moving on the dais.
But... Mondes continues to stare at it. At first, he doesn't say anything. Then, with a quick sniff, he gruffs, "Summin' needs a be kilt fer this. Burn it down, Firestarter, or I'll cut it down and torch it meself." Desmond feels himself lose control of his sword arm as Mondes draws their weapon. Mondes lapses back into silence, glaring at the human mage to see what he will do.

"I am...unfamiliar with this type of sorcery," Ulric says slowly as he carefully looks over the horrifically bizarre system of animated organs. "Perhaps they were preparing a vessel to receive some sort of summoning? I do not know."
Ulric extracts the flask of firewater oil from his pack.
"This should do the job as well, if not better, than my magic," Ulric says to Mondes. "I would not risk getting close enough to cut it down though. Throw the oil upon that thing and toss a torch upon it. Then be ready for anything."

Mondes turns his glare to Desmond, but does not say anything. Without looking away from his counterpart, he regains control of the arm, grabs the flask of firewater from the mage, and nods once in thanks.
"Arm gonna be da one ta trow it, noggin. Nort yooo," he grumbles. Finally, he looks back at the eldrich device on the pedestal and throws the flask of firewater at the bottom of the morbid contraption (or at the organs themselves, if they are densely located enough, WOTE; I wasn't totally clear on how "airy" the collection of organs was, if you take my meaning). Then he walks over to one of Wen's candles, grabs it off the shelf where he'd placed it, and tosses that into the mix, as well.
After it (hopefully) goes up in flames, Mondes glances over at Wen and says, "we owz ya a candle, wizzie."
