Armando and Ulric see one another approaching the bridge from either side, and meet safely on the abbey side as Ulric, with the others in tow, return to the abbey door for another look...

Cautiously, Ulric peers in to find the abbey seems completely empty. Nobody is there.

Ulric spots Armando making his way around the abbey and smiles briefly. At least one of them got out. Ulric waves Armando over to join them at the door.

Peering inside the abbey cautiously once again Ulric sees...nothing.

"It seems the demon has returned to the tar pit," Ulric says. "This may be our chance to see what happened to Gustave and Highbough and to finish searching the altar."

"Gustave hails us from atop yonder heap of rubble €” he seems in good health, observe his jaunty pose!" Armando waves back with one hand, the other clutching the bowl and candelabra within his cloak. "Candidly, good Wizard, I propose we rejoin our comrades, once all are accounted for, and quit these precincts with the utmost alacrity ..."

Gustave appears to note Armando's acknowledgement, for he waves forth the rest of his troop, and they all begin to spill from the sundered works and out into the courtyard. It should take them but half a minute to reach the makeshift bridge in good order...

Desmond/Mondes walks up to the other group, specifically standing in front of Guntram.

He peers at Guntram carefully through a squinted eye for a moment, then turns his focus back to the mound of rubble they just climbed, then back at Guntram.

Then he shakes his head and says, "Gustave says you're the one what made that mess back there, Gunt. But I think e's been takin' too much of the nip, if you ask me."

Breathing a sigh of relief when finally gathering back with Ulric, Armando and the others.

"A devilish place friends, to be sure. You missed a fierce battle, where by strength of arms Dieter, Dorgan, Desmond and Mondes and Lady Josiane prevailed. There are still black robed priest about Master Ulric, and I am spent, so it is a relief to be with you and Master Highbough again." Wen relates all this with some hand waving and smiles looking rather strange because he is covered in bloody muck and filth.

Josiane hurries up to the others, relieved to see they are all intact.

"My Lord is well?" she offers up to Olaf anxiously and a little shyly.

"That is - the affliction has not worsened in this corrupted atmosphere?" she adds swiftly.

"Were it only that it were true, I am truly parched", says Gustave, appearing next to Desmond/Mondes and sheathing his blade with a flick of the wrist.

"But I see, my previously-engourged comrade", he adds, turning to Guntrum, "that you again join us in the land of the little people. That was quite some feat you accomplished before".
