Rufus will complete a circle of the camp to look for an signs of visitors in the night, and/or tracks to be concerned about. Reporting any findings.

Then Rufus will take up the rear of the group with Gustave.

"Hi Gustave my name is Rufus, let me tell you a story of when long ago back home Wibert made some rat pastries and sold them to some passing travellers...", chats Rufus. "We made a bit of money that day... they did taste nice I remember... I say have you enjoyed the delights of Wibert's cooking?"

"Err...rat, pastries you say?", repeats Gustave, glancing over his shoulder at the halfling from the mud-map session, "I have had some fine rat actually - in the court at Marb they did a superb rat boullignon served with petit honeyed vegetables and a magnificent floong-berry salad, but rat pastry...are you sure you are related to our dearly departed soup master?"

A marching order is arranged, and plans to approach the abbey discussed as the sun begins to rise...

Highbough sketches a squashed pentagonal shape in the earth, with a front gate that faces down slope, and in the general direction of your camp. The trees, which are visible even from here in daylight, crowd around the rear wall of the place, though they are mostly spindly things, unlikely to support the bulk of an armoured Man.

The roofs that are visible beyond the sturdy, 10ft wall are low and unremarkable, but Josiane guesses from her own monastery experience that a structure this size is likely to house dormitories for the nuns, a cloister for contemplation, a chapel for worship (though she can see no raised steeple), a garden for growing vegetables, a kitchen to prepare meals and great hall in which to meet and dine.

They abbey seems of a size to potentially house up to 30 nuns.

Murphy the mule rips up a dry tussock of tough grass in his teeth and munches on it, listening to the planning earnestly.

Dorgan scratches his chin through his beard.

"Ain't one a' ya got some enchanted ring or whatnot? Howzabout ya hop over the wall and open up the gate afore anyone inside can react?"

The dwarf reaches down and absentmindedly pulls a weed from the ground, sticks it in the side of his mouth, and begins chewing on it slowly.

"Might be good ta scout the grounds from above fer a bit first, make sure there ain't too many guards to worry about..."

"Or at least hop up with a rope, fasten it off, and drop it down for the rest of us to climb it," Desmond ponders aloud. "Excellent idea, by the way, Dorgan," he adds with a nod.

Torben pulls at his mustache and looks at Desmond. "Rope climbing is slow and difficult, even for me--and especially if you're armored." He pauses for a moment. "Arrows would make quick work of anyone caught on the climb. Like Dorgan said, a scout or flanking party would be safer than exposing the whole company."
