Padrig get ready to let fly arrows if the thing from the swap attacks.

"Make path in front of me," Ulric shouts as he moves forward a few paces. "I'll make some fire."
Ulric prepares to unleash the Anthracite Sufferance on the swamp creature but does not cast the spell unless the beast charges. He does not want a repeat of their first encounter with the hobgoblins.

Dieter, Flewellen and Caine trot briskly toward the vacant north-eastern part of the campsite to flank the monster, while Mads, Olaf and Ulric position themselves forward, the two fighting-men issuing stern commnands, while the wizard mutters a more sinister threat.
The towering monstrosity of writhing bark and weeping moss seems, perhaps to pause as the Men shout their threats, but they note that its head seems to support only an enormous mouth -- it lacks eyes, nose and ears! Before they are completely done speaking the thing turns sharply toward the flanking party and forces its way powerfully through the copse, its enormous, trunk-like legs and great feet of writhing tendrils and creepers crushing unhappy branches beneath them.
"What do you call THAT?" Boris quavers, pulling his mace shakily.
"I dunno, but keep it away from me!" Fix replies, keeping as far back as he can.
Meanwhile Gustave works himself free of his bedroll to stand barefoot and shivering (not just form the cold) with dagger in hand, Michele finishes cranking and loading his enormous weapon, and Padrig, Anwyn and Victor stand ready with missiles trained on the beast, but hold their fire... for now.
"Git outa those trees, beastie," mutters Victor, following its progress with his loaded crossbow.

Not sure if this will work, but okay...
Dieter has this nifty ring that allows him some amazing leaps, right? So he'd like to leap forward and slash at the thing, and then, if possible, leap back out of range.
This is probably not going to work. But I have to at least try.
If nothing else, I'll be up there fighting, trying to pin in in position so the rest of the party can shoot/stab/hack at it.

If Michele can get off a clear shot before the creature closes for melee with his allies, he will take it. If not, he holds fire--he does not want the first kill of his adventuring career to be friendly fire!

Now that the monstrosity is in view Flewellen runs back to his pack, grabs a vial of lantern oil the fire, picks up a flaming log from the fire. Should he have time, Flewellen will close with the abomination, douse it with lantern oil, and light the oil with the flaming log.
