"Look, law abidin' Men like yerselves, it must boil yer butt to see 'em running this city inta the ground, am I right?"

He continues, excitement rising in his voice.

"We struck a blow today 'gainst them rotten goblins. No doubt you saw the pall of smoke over the city, as you approached? 'Twas us. We sent a message to the gobbos to get out and don't come back."

Then his voice lowers to nearly a whisper.

"But we discovered a secret. A secret that put us in danger. It puts you all in danger, too. The dead rose from their graves 'gainst us, one of 'em near killed me." Here Dorgan strains his neck to show the Men his wounds. "And the leader's huntin' us now. 'Tis a vampire."

Dorgan will pause a moment here and let the implications of his disclosure sink in.

"You got that right!" Olaf says as he drops his sack of coins with a metallic clump between his legs and plops down on a chair next to Dieter.

"Albert, roll out a barrel of ale!" the thin young warrior calls to the barkeep, "Between us all I think we can drain it dry!"

Between munches of the sandwich he has grabbed Olaf asks, "What happened to you guys? We were out there waiting, it seemed like, all afternoon for Gustave to get back and when he did all he had was a danged potato sack for Des to put his head into."

But I have no illusions as to the power of the enemy I face and the likely outcome if I do so alone. I come here seeking allies. You are clearly men of strength and courage. Will you aid Ket and I?"

"We should get these sacks out of sight as soon as possible, to some private rooms if they're available. I am anxious to get some rest and study some of our more mysterious finds as well as pay a visit to the library."

Ulric then turns to the newcomers.

"Dorgan, Josiane. What you speak of is intriguing. But the common room may not be the best place to speak of such matters. Especially if you are being hunted. Please let us eat, drink, tend our wounds and see to our equipment. Then we may be able to help you. We have been to hell and back as you can see from our appearance."
