The would be pelt-hunter gathers up his meager, empty snares with a disdainful grunt. The warren hardly proved productive!
Then the pair are off, Olaf leading the way at a steady lope.
The ruin lies a hundred yards directly ahead on a raised knoll. Beringar had given the place a wide berth on his way out, not knowing who (or what) might be squatting there, but he follows Olaf there cautiously none-the-less.
Even before they reach the summit, the faint echoes of clanging and shouting carry to their ears from across the heath. The unmistakable sound of trouble from somewhere beyond the ruin...
"Whoa!" Olaf stops and crouches for a second, "Sounds like a fight up ahead."
"If the Snorks are attacking my friends, I'll have to to try to help." he moves up to the summit to look keeping his head down so he can see without being easily seen.
Olaf has his bow and will be using it if the wargs and their riders are within range. He'll aim at them as they leave the melee to wheel about to charge back in. He doesn't want to fire directly into the melee as he is all too aware of the friendly fire problem having been on the receiving end of it before. Lacking armor and shield, he also doesn't want to go hand to hand if he can avoid it.

Muttering a curse, Beringar hastily follows the lad up to the summit, shield raised, and spear in hand.
He will attempt to stand at his right, surveying the scene whilst providing cover for them both with his shield, if at all possible.
Also, if there's time and (non-suicidal) space, he will get rid of his pack and other gear, to be able to move better, leaving him with his armour, shield, spear and dagger. (The axe would be stowed atop his rucksack, and thus unavailable. And yes, Beringar isn't encumbered, as far as I know, but this is something he would do.)

The pair surmount the knoll, Beringar unshouldering his excess gear on the climb, navigate around the shell of the ruin squatting at the summit, and gaze across the plain toward Ket.
Perhaps an eighth of a mile out there is a noisome melee unfolding! By his sharp eye Olaf immediately reckognises that it's his company; looking hard pressed by a pack of wargs -- some with riders some without. It's hard to tell what's happening, but there are already numerous bodies on the ground, and a pair of warg riders scampering back toward ket, already well beyond reach.

Beringar swallows hard. "I'm guessing we've found your friends."

"Yeah." Olaf says, "Looks like."
"Let's go!" he tops the rise and starts off at a lope to get close enough to fire his arrows at the Snorks and their mounts. He'll stop when he is at medium range and start shooting arrows as quickly as he can.

With a nod, Beringar follows. He will try to keep an even pace with the lad, and stay at his side should any snork attempt to close the distance. The reminder of his equipment will remain back by the ruin for now, obviously.

The pair set off at pace, scampering down the incline in smart time, but then having to contend with the thick Heath. Both men are fit and hardy and can make an eight minute mile even with light armour, so with the shin high vegetation lets say they'll close to within 80 yards at a flat run...

Once within 80 yards or so, Olaf lets fly a volley of arrows in quick succession, still firing as his earlier missiles sail slowly through the air and hang momentarily at their apex, before thundering down among the wargs.
The pair are modestly surprised to see that the dozen or so wargs immediately take to flight, leaving their fellows with the field!

Beringar points at the fleeing snorks with his spear.
"Looks like your arrows did it, lad."

"Woo hoo!" Olaf shouts and keeps firing off arrows at the wargs and Snorks between strides toward the battle scene, "Let's keep them running!"
