Food and water are the problem with trying hold off a siege or fighting a gorilla war. We have enough food for a couple of days only. We can stretch that and go hungry, but not all that long. Water...well there is the pool underground, but that is filled with monsters and we don't know it is drinkable...

It might be possible to half fill a couple of skins from muddy puddles in the courtyard, and the pool collected in the bottom of the wagon. It is a pity nobody thought to put a few pots under some of the roof leaks last night...

FYI -- the majority of the loot is that captured from the Ogres' lair. And the majority of that is bulky copper of lesser value... The Ogre chests contain 3,307cp and 1,742sp. In other words, two thirds of the bulk is worth one quarter of the value.

You could probably carry the most valuable one third (of the bulk) of the loot on your backs without need of the cumbersome cart... perhaps you could even buy the hobgoblins off with all the copper and avoid a fight?
