Hmmm. FWIW, by my estimation, using the magic ring to leap out of the combat and then stay out of Owlbear reach would give Dieter substantially better odds of survival...

The Anthracite Sufferance will set afire the air to approximately 10 yards... does Ulric dare approach so close?
