If it's not too soon to rest again, I think near the exit is a good place. If everyone wants to continue exploring, I think area #10 would be the best. We could look at the tunnels in area #2 on our way past, I'm not even sure if we can fit inside them? (Further investigation would reveal that).
Combat resets the 'rest turn clock.' You're definitely allowed a rest turn after the battle with the skeleton. (But taking a rest turn is not mandatory--we got rid of that rule a long time ago.)

The warren of tunnels north of area #2 are exactly the right size for a giant sloth to squeeze through. The hobbets would not have any problem exploring the burrow (in single-file marching order).

To refresh your memory about area #10, it looked like an excavated pit with a minecart ramp spiralling down into the darkness. The air felt damp and you got the impression, maybe it was an old quarry, flooded with water at the bottom.

"Let's explore those little tunnels ((area #2))!" exclaims Robur excitedly wringing his hands together gleefully. "Maybe we can find more gold! Plenty of time to butter fry my mushrooms later..."

Re: The Ninth Adventure

After the rest turn, Wilbur and Robur are back to full health, Kiplyn 7/12, and Dame Simonetta 7/10. There are no wandering monsters.

What do we think of Robur's suggestion to head north into the sloth tunnels?

Kiplyn gives a little a groan as sits up and dusts himself off. "Can't say I feel fine but I do feel a little better. I agree we should check the tunnels first just so nothing creeps up on us again."

Re: The Ninth Adventure

Dame Simonetta agrees with checking out the tunnels, since they are so close by. She leads the way to the easternmost tunnel.

Re: The Ninth Adventure

It's a short crawl through the tunnels, then it opens up into a larger area #14. To your southwest is a small alcove that smells like animal poop. At the north end of the room are a few tunnels, and you can hear a noise from that direction that sounds like the breathing of a large animal.

The major feature is the black spire. It's made of a smooth, glassy stone that looks out of place with the local geology. Almost as if the gods shot an obsidian arrow down from the heavens, piercing into the earth.

Dame Simonetta's owl medallion chatters like a geiger counter as she approaches the black spire.

Re: The Ninth Adventure

Kiplyn loads a stone into his sling and gestures for everyone to be very, very quiet. He would move slowly northward towards the sound..

Re: The Ninth Adventure

Robur gets his dagger out, and wants to deal with whatever smelly monster hunting has to be done before examining, prodding, or climbing this strange black spire thingy.
By the way, does this black spire look like a pyramid or something? Is like a 4-sided dice / tetrahedron that could be climbed??

Re: The Ninth Adventure

Dame Simonetta heeds Kiplyn's request, she clutches her medallion in one hand as she reaches out to touch the spire with her other.
