Re: The Sixth Adventure

Willie does a little experiment. First he'll uncork a flask and try flinging the oil straight out of the flask toward the ceiling by whipping the flask in an arc while keeping it in his hand. Next, he'll aim the flask at the middle of the slime and whing it hard, hoping to shatter the glass and spread as much oil as possible up there. Hopefully its viscosity will keep enough oil up there long enough for a torch to be tossed.

Whichever technique results in the most oil on the ceiling (flinging or whinging) is the one Willie will use going forward.

Dame Simonetta also gets out a flask of lantern oil. She will hold off throwing it for now though, waiting to see if it's needed. Particularly, if we've having trouble igniting oil on the ceiling, she'll simply toss the contents out onto the floor to start the fire down there, relying on the heat and smoke to rise up and kill the slime.

Re: The Sixth Adventure

Willie's whinging whiffs! Willie's whipping whiffs!

The other hobbets decide "this is ridiculous" and get in on the oil-flinging madness.

After the party has expended a total of 7 flasks, Bilfur judges that the surfaces are sufficiently coated with oil. He flings a lit torch into the room, creating a massive inferno!

The fire burns for two minutes. Dame Simonetta urges everyone to stay close to the floor, so they are not overcome by the smoke.

When the flames subside, it is clear that the patch of green slime has been completely destroyed. Our heroes feel slightly more experienced, and the path to the south is clear.

OOC: From whose inventory shall I subtract the 7 flasks of oil? I already deducted 2 from Willie, 1 from Kiplyn, and 1 from Dame Simonetta. This leaves 3 unaccounted for.
OOC: Wille's two attack rolls vs. AC 9: 1d20 = 5, 2 he misses badly, wasting 2 flasks of oil.

Additional attack rolls from the other party members: 4, 17, 15, 2, 17. Three hits and two miss.

Total damage (2d6): 6, 9, 4 for a total of 18 damage from the 7 flasks.

The green slime is destroyed! It rolled really well on hit points, 3d6=16.

Turn 10

Continuing to the south, our heroes find themselves on a gravely beach. The dark, still waters stretch at least 30' to the south, out of lantern range.

30 feet to the west is a literal "line in the sand." Someone has formed words out of pebbles (like a cartoon desert-island castaway) that spell "Dungeon Level 4."

The beach continues to the east (still within the boundaries of Dungeon Level 2).

OOC: 1d6=4, there is no wandering monster encounter. Can you visualize how the 4 dungeon levels fit together to make one big map?

3 1
4 2

I assume that Wilbur and Dougal are with us still so each of them should pony up an Oil. Kiplyn will happily supply the third.

Re: The Sixth Adventure

Dame Simonetta discourages any hobbets from idly tossing rocks into the water!

She turns east and begins heading in that direction, keeping closer to the wall than the water.

Re: The Sixth Adventure

Dougal does indeed chip in a flask from his inventory.

He agree's with the Dame's suggestions of going East and of not disturbing the water.

Re: The Sixth Adventure

Turn 10 continues

To the east the party discovers a side-cavern (Area #2) that is empty except for a large treasure chest. The chest looks similar to the ones our heroes encountered on dungeon level 1. It's a large "pirate style" chest, wooden with reinforcing metal bands.

OOC: Given what happened last time, I will assume nobody approaches or touches the chest, until you tell me that you do.

Re: The Sixth Adventure

Bilfur is happy the slime has been damaged. When asked about a flask of Oil he comments, " never had a need for oil as I use torches. So what's in the chest?"

Re: The Sixth Adventure

Kiplyn scratches his head. "What are the odds, we best be careful..." He then looks carefully around the outside of the room and near the entrance so anything unusual.
