Armando's Day
Armando inspects the quarter master's stores, finding it to the busy hub of this operation. The quartermaster is an elderly fellow--even for an Elf--with a bespectacled eye for detail, who keeps exquisitely penned account of the movement of even article into and out of his care. Many elves seem to be coming and going, collecting victuals and wine for the even mean. Other more military looking elves come and go, replacing spent arrows, fetching water skins or whetstones, or boot nails... all as a matter of course.
d6=1 when Armando boldly stretches out his hungry fingers to secretly requisitioning a purse upon the quartermaster's bench, he at the last moment notices the canny old fellow glaring right at him over the top of his glasses, and so hastily thinks better of it!
He returns to the Hall to move his possessions into the barracks that his sleeping companions now occupy so that the elves can continue with their preparations for the evening feast.
He is pleased to note his crystal orb is safely tucked away... and gives himself over to inspecting the wooden box. After a thorough turning over, and period of minute attention given to the clasps, hinges, and lock, he decides it is safe, and then attempts to tease open the lock itself.
d6=6 now with his cunning tools and technique Armando soon has the little mechanism cooperating, and with a gentle snick the lock is disengaged. The lid then comes open most easily and smoothly, revealing a blue velvet lined interior containing a weighty tome that has a look of religious significance about it. Armando doesn't read the Empyrean runes himself, but he knows someone who does...
