Dorgan sees that Hans and his apprentices have crafted a number of small hammers and axes and picks that are for sale, seemingly tools rather than weapons, but decides to venture his letter opener anyways.

Hans tests the weight and edge of it in his tough, blackened hands.

"It's a nice piece o' work," he states, matter of factly, "Well balanced, a keen edge, and a nice weight o' silver in the hilt." He hands it back hilt first and scratches his chin a moment.

"I'd reckon it worth 30 silver, if ye want my opinion."

The three fellows purchase all four shields which Hans has available, and Gustave places a commission for an additional one.

Dorgan will politely thank Hans for his learned opinion (as well as the shield he purchased) and return the blade to his boot.

He's ready to proceed to the weaponsmith or the moneychanger, whichever is next on their list.

Josiane, contemplating the shut gate before her, thinks back to her years in the Convent. What would be the appropriate protocol for attracting the attention of those within? Knock? Call out?

In her own cloistered youth she found distributing temple funds to wandering beggars or preaching impromptu sermons concerning the sin of hoarding wealth was usually enough to bring the Mother Superior hobbling angrily through the gates, but she's keen to make a good first impression here...

Given the lead by his worthy companions (and clutching his new shield under arm) Gustave again wanders into the sunlight.

"If you gents want weapons", he says, "perhaps I can see you there in a few minutes. My blade is still sharp - thanks be to his grace the Duke of Knut, may his soul rest - and we can expedite ourselves toward more entertaining endevours if I make a quick side trip to see this greenskin moneychanger while you equip yourselves with fresh steel."

Brow raised, and half-turned ready to go, he awaits confirmation of his proposed manoevure, pipeweed and wine clearly foremost in his mind.

It would be customary to knock upon the door.

The Crumenal
(Gustave, Dorgan, Desmond/Mondes)

Gustave and Co. stride through the busy streets in a generally uphill direction, returning to the well to do district mostly by retracing their own steps. The streets are busy with midday traffic, but they push through the eager throng of Men and Goblins of all persuasions.

Soon they locate the money changer; and establishment called The Crumenal. The weather faded sign out front depicts two hands exchanging coins.

It is a narrow stone building, grey and green with verdigris. Two step lead up to the plain wooden door, behind which a miniature bell tinkles as they step inside. Otherwise the interior is cool, dim and fastidiously clean and tidy.

There is a very thick necked guard dressed in ridiculously tight formal shirt with starched cuffs and collar and bright brassy buttons loitering inside the door, and a small, bespectacled Goblin behind a clean marble counter.

"What can I do for ye, gentlemen?" snipes the impeccably dressed, balding Goblin sitting behind the counter.

The Cloister
(Josiane)

Josiane knocks on the stout wooden door quite firmly. The sound is solid enough to have been heard, surely, even though it seems to be entirely swallowed by the atmosphere of quiet serenity.

She waits patiently for a long time for something to happen, but it seems as though her call has fallen upon deaf ears. Eventually, her saintly patience is beaten and she is about to knock a second time...

Just as she lifts her hand there comes a sudden, muffled rattle from within. The a peep-hatch at eye level is sudden thrown back and the voice of a disgruntled women within says, "Who knocks upon the door of the cloister?"

Josiane dutifully drops a curtsey while making the sign of the Enigma.

"Thuul's grace be upon you, Sister. I am a once-member of the Convent of the Holy Well of Saint Tamar, praise be to Her name. I come upon a matter of grave import and do most humbly implore the assistance of the Sisters of this house."

She wracks her brain for any other niceties expected of a young Novice on these occasions and does her best to look both pious and purposeful...
