Re: The Ninth Adventure

The mighty Dame Simonetta puts the vilstrak in a submission hold and prevents it from fleeing. It quickly becomes obvious that the creature's ability to meld with stone does not extend to Dame Simonetta, so she's not at any risk of getting pulled into the rock herself.

The vilstrak makes alien clicking noises with its lobster-like mandibles. It's clear that the creature cannot communicate in any known language.

What's the plan? Finish it off?

OOC: I will give Dame Simonetta an Open Doors check to overpower the vilstrak. She rolls 1d6=6, success.

“Tie it up, or finish it off?” Noh asks the Dame.
OOC: can others hit it without endangering Simonetta?

OOC: Yes, this is a coup de grâce opportunity vs. a helpless foe.

"Wait!" says Robur getting an uncanny Druid sense. "The beast is trying to tell us something."
"Beast," says Robur. "Do you understand what I'm saying? Click three times if you do..."

Re: The Ninth Adventure

Dame Simonetta would rather we just finish the thing off, but continues holding it in a tight grip while Robur attempts some questioning.

Re: The Ninth Adventure

The creature does not understand Common. Robur senses that a speak with animals spell would not be helpful in this case, since the creature is technically not an "animal" for purposes of druidic magic. (Unnatural, not part of this world)

"I'm sorry Dame," says Robur. "It is beyond our world, so my nature knowledge and magic would only help but waste our time. Do what you will with it..."
Robur respectfully bows to the thing, and turns his back to it expecting Dame to do the deed...

Kiplyn has been quietly standing by while the debate has occurred. "Look here we no closer to pancakes and rest if stand around wishing we could talk to rocks. These things try to kill everytime we come this way, I think it times to move on". He draws his dagger and finish the beast off.

Re: The Ninth Adventure

bilfur sighs and says, " the creature was born of earth and from another plane of existence. However it does not mean it does not have intelligence. Hopefully these creatures do not have a mother."
