"All this running around after blue men and disappearing friends is making me hungry!" says Robur. "How about about little lunch?"

Our heroes stop for a rest and a snack, restoring 1hp to the wounded (as per our "second breakfast" rule).

Then Bilfur lights the webs on fire with his torch. There are some horrific scurrying noises from within the web, and then an angry, flaming spider bursts forth to attack! Luckily for our heroes, it's nowhere near the Spidergoat in size, but it's still big enough to be scary (roughly the size of the Alien 'facehugger').

The party has initiative. What will you do?

OOC: I will give Bilfur first attack since he is perfectly positioned: 1d20=19, hit for 3hp killing the spider.

Bilfur smashes the spider with his torch and it stops moving!

It takes a few moments for the smoke to clear. The party finds an additional 6 spiders dead in the web. (The spider that attacked Bilfur was the 7th, and the only survivor.)

The tunnel that was blocked with webs continues to the south. Due to the elevation change, this tunnel passes under the tunnel connecting areas 7 and 10 and eventually connects up with areas 38 and 39. Before we get to that...

There is a small side-tunnel that was hidden by the webs. The spiders were guarding 2,000 silver pieces and 4 gems worth 30gp, 100gp, 100gp, 1,000gp!

(Nice score! Map update coming shortly, showing the hidden spider nook.)

"Well done, Bilfur! I wonder if we should go deposit this haul on the surface?"

"Yes well done," Noh adds, "quick first strike!"
The spiders are natural creatures, yes? Is there anything of druidical worth to get out of them? Not sure if druids can safely get poison from the fangs, or if any other body parts might be useful ;)
Also agree with heading back to drop off our overflowing sacks :)

"But be wary, those blue creatures will likely launch another attack!" Dame Simonetta agrees with Willie.
And perhaps when we return we can get rid of a couple of deadweights? My main concern would be though even if we dismiss them (Douglas & Fiona) they might come back down on their own and cause us trouble later.

Agreeing, hard, here. If they come back on their own recognizance, then we have less responsibility for them ;)

"What a fantasticsy bit of luck!" says Robur. "Yes, let's get this loot safely locked away outside of the caves and give our newbies another stern lecture on adventuring properly!"
