OOC: Noh can't think which herbs or plants might help with this, since he doesn't have a diagnosis. If Noh had any Mythos, he could attempt a Mythos check to sense if, maybe for example, Ursa is a victim of Cthulhu's mind-control. But Noh has Mythos 0, meaning he has no experience with the occult world.
Would Noh know ( :) ) anyone who might have a better understanding?

Would you be shocked if I told you ehiker133's character is one of the team leaders in Mythos? :D

Re: The Seventh Adventure

Beppo had not spent all this time trying to recruit these boys to his cause just to be talked out of it by one kid with a broom. He ignored the kid and chased after the little snot-nosed ingrates. If they refused to stop, he would pelt them with more snowballs until they begged for mercy!

Re: The Seventh Adventure

Beppo races north in hot pursuit of the human children. They know the neighborhood well and have the home-court advantage, but Beppo (as an adult) has more raw speed and stamina. Soon he is back within snowball range and takes aim at the youngest and smallest child, who is straggling behind his friends.

The snowball sails through the air with perfect aim and strikes the kid BAFF! on the back of the head. The little boy screams and face-plants into the snow. His friends leave him behind and keep running!

"STOP RIGHT THERE! ON THE GROUND NOW! HANDS WHERE WE CAN SEE THEM!"

Beppo sees two adult humans approaching. They are wearing leather armor and helmets. They look very angry, and their crossbows are aimed directly at Beppo.
Beppo chose his equipment list carefully, to maintain a 12" movement rate, and that should be rewarded. Let's say the smallest children are only 9" movement rate.

Initiative: Beppo 4, humans 6

Beppo doesn't catch up to the humans this round due to their higher initiative, but he is closing the gap. He is close enough to throw a snowball:

1d20 = 18 direct hit for 6hp "damage"

Town guard reaction roll 2d6 = 8, neutral.

Meanwhile at the House of Pancakes...

In one of her more lucid moments, Ursa stares at Noh with a look of recognition and says, "Hey aren't you that bird? Carc? And now you're a hobbet? Birddet! Hobbird! Shapeshifter! You a druid, like me?"

Re: The Seventh Adventure

Rats! Beppo was so busy with the human children he forgot to keep an eye out for adults.

Beppo turned and raised his hands in the air. "Really, there is no need for violence! The children and I were just playing a game together!"

But if they repeated their demands, he could comply and get on the ground.

Re: The Seventh Adventure

Meanwhile at the scene of the snowball fight...

One of the adults helps the little kid up and brushes the snow off his clothes. "Is this true?"

The boy sniffles and says, "It's twue, occiffer. We was just messin' 'round."

The guards confer with each other and seem satisfied. "Right, we are taking you home to your mother. And as for YOU, hobbo, we are letting you go with a warning. If you cause any more trouble, we will put you in the stocks or worse."

One of the officers takes the child by the hand and walks him home. The other keeps a watchful eye on Beppo and tries to intimidate him with a stern, "Do I make myself clear??"

Beppo finds himself at the intersection marked with a red @ sign. The large building to his NW is called the Whateley Inn. The two men were standing guard at the east gate of the walled compound; that's why they were able to respond so quickly to the disturbance.

What's next for Beppo? Does he have anything to say back to the human?

Image
Beppo is going to sink or swim based on the little boy's testimony. (The other kids have all scattered; they don't want to have anything to do with the cops.) If the kid claims that Beppo was trying to hurt him, then it's probably "lights out" for our hero.

Reaction roll for the kid: 2d6=11, very positive. Lucky for Beppo!

Delving Deeper rules state, "mapping is not possible during pursuit," but now that Beppo has stopped running, he can of course get his bearings on the map.

Re: The Seventh Adventure

Beppo forced a fake smile. "You make yourselves very clear. Tell me, what are your names, good sirs?"

Beppo wanted to know so he could store this information for later revenge. The indignities he'd already suffered in one day!

"Why, so you can 'talk to my manager'?" the human replies in a mocking, whiny tone of voice. "Halflings are such 'Karens.' Scram!"
