Bilfur is right! Some (if not all) of the Hobbets assembled here today, have crossed paths before. Maybe not to talk to, and maybe not on a first-name basis, but some of these faces do look familiar. The total population of Hobbets in this setting is low enough, that the Hobbet Homes have a "small town atmosphere" where everybody is basically distant cousins, and you can't walk down the street without bumping into someone you know. Furthermore, Bilfur recalls a specific incident from his youth:
While he typically avoided going into town, young Bilfur would occasionally go to the farmer's market on the outskirts, to barter forest products for essential goods. One day, while passing by the Fairgrounds, young Bilfur noticed a group of children gathering around a traveling performer. Bilfur timidly approached and sat in the back row for the unusual performance. The visitor was an Adventurer, who entertained the children with tumbling, juggling tricks, and tall tales of his adventures. Bilfur can still vividly remember how he felt, being introduced to the concept of Adventure for the first time. Perhaps that event, is what planted the seed in his mind, that has led him here today.
Back in the present day: As Bilfur looks around the restaurant, he recognizes the middle-aged hobbet in the apron, as the Adventurer from long ago!! He is older, balder, and chubbier. But there is no doubt in Bilfur's mind: the cook is none other than that Adventurer, who planted the seed of curiosity all those years ago. Bilfur also thinks, that may be where he recognizes some of these other hobbets from: They are about the same age as him, and perhaps as children, they were also there that same day at the Fairgrounds, too, when Frederick the Adventurer came to town.
The cook approaches Bilfur: "What can I get for you, young man?"
